Kakwa Ecovillage Cooperative Creation of food and energy security in a regenerative and resilient Northern environment

Unforgettable vistas of the Rocky Mtns and Cariboo Mtns on the banks of the Fraser River give the organic farm a setting that confirms the ecotourism potential of the Ecovillage. Located a few kilometers from a boundary of the 11,000 hectare Ancient Cedar Forest Provincial Park adds to the specialness of place.

About 100 acres of the 540 acre property is cleared pasture. A 4 bdrm house, bunkhouse, barn, and 2 cabins are in place. Current zoning supports the construction of multiple dwellings. A housing cooperative is identified as the ownership/membership vehicle. On site water, broadband internet, telephone, and power are currently in use.

We are actively looking for families with children and experienced communitarians, especially those interested in an agriculture based livelihood. Findhorn and the Centre for Alternative Technology are among our sources of inspiration. We are accessible by public transportation with a Via Rail link to the property, as well as the nearby Trans-Canada Highway.
