We are re-building our ecovillage on beautiful Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. The ecovillage is a working model of co-operative, sustainable land habitation and use.
Although we have been operational since 2006, we have seen some difficult times. We have learned from our journey and over the last several years, we have focused on three primary activities.
- – Ensuring the co-op remains financially viable through daily, hard-working farming to ensure the bills get paid and our vision remains alive.
- – Using the excess funds to pay back former members (only a few more to go!), and
- – With the first two goals nearly accomplished, getting re-organized based on what we have learned from the events of the past several years in preparation for our re-launch and expansion in 2021!
EcoReality Co-Op owns a 43 Acre Farm in the fertile Fulford Valley with two homes and current allowance for several more. This land features large, irrigated fields, riparian areas on two year-round streams, and young forest. It backs on the Burgoyne Bay and Mill Farm public parks, which protect nearly the entire watershed of the two streams, providing an ideal foundation to build our eco-community.
Membership & Visitors
- Current members: 2
- Open to new members
We are seeking resident-funders who share our vision and values, are ready to actively participate in the hard work of farming, and who are financially able to acquire the last remaining shares of former members. People of exceptional skill with fewer financial resources are also encouraged to begin a process of involvement that may ultimately result in membership and habitation.
