30 Years of Rooted Action
Welcome to the 2025 Annual Report of the Global Ecovillage Network
In 1995, a small network of communities dared to imagine a world built on cooperation, ecology, and shared purpose. Three decades later, the Global Ecovillage Network spans every continent — a living proof that another way of life is not only possible, but already here.
Our 2025 Annual Report reflects a year of deepening roots. We strengthened old partnerships, wove new ones, and reminded ourselves that the most resilient systems — in nature and in community — are built on relationship.
This year, we turned thirty. And rather than look back with nostalgia, we looked forward with intention.
2025 was a year of strengthening the threads, partnerships, relationships, and shared commitments that make this network more than the sum of its parts. We deepened collaborations across regions, listened more carefully to what communities need, and asked harder questions about what GEN’s role must be in a world that is visibly changing.
The old stories are unraveling and now more than ever it is vital that we are telling a new story. Of cooperation and care for all life on earth.
Inside this report, you’ll find evidence of a network in motion: communities building resilience from the ground up, partnerships that cross borders and disciplines, and people who have chosen, daily, to live the change they wish to see.
Thirty years is a foundation. What we build on it is up to all of us.
