Ecological Food Systems at Schumacher College Schumacher College is the first in the world to offer a postgraduate programme in Ecological Food Systems, developed in collaboration with Plymouth University, The Organic Research Centre (ORC), The Campaign for Real Farming and the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT). Join the leaders and change agents at the forefront of new thinking in resilient and healthy food systems. This course explores the frontiers of research and practice that will meet the social, ecological and economic challenges our food systems face in the 21st Century. We offer you a unique and transformative blend of academic and practical learning opportunities from Schumacher College, Plymouth University, the Organic Research Centre, The Campaign for Real Farming and the Centre for Alternative Technology. sustainable horticulture and food production students Beyond industrial food systems Now that global population has passed 7 billion, we urgently need to consider how our food systems will cope in the coming years. The food industry tells us we need to increase yields but the reality is far more complex. Food needs to be of sufficient quality as well as quantity, while diets will need to adapt in order to improve agricultural land-use. We need to move away from methods of production that contribute to environmental degradation and consume finite resources. Food sovereignty (the right of people to define their own systems) must be included in the debate, as well as grassroots movements in food localisation. Food waste and distribution are complex issues that also need to be addressed alongside production. In addition, food systems need to be resilient in an unpredictable and changing climate. These are the issues that you will explore on the course, which brings together the thinking, research and practice at the cutting-edge of a global food revolution. Many people wonder how on earth ecovillages work together, make decisions, communicate and handle conflict. Peeling the Onion on Sociocracy Gina Price, Sociocracy trainer and Friend of Narara Ecovillage since 2008, is conducting a series of three online (Zoom) sessions. You will learn elements of the Sociocratic Circle Method and how they work together for whole system intelligence. This will prepare you to participate in Sociocratic Elections by consent. Este año queríamos darle un toque diferente a nuestras jornadas de educación. Pensamos que encuentros centrados principalmente en un intercambio de información para adultos hay muchos, por lo que en esta ocasión pretendemos darle mucha importancia a nuestr@s hij@s. Queremos que vengan niñ@s de todas las edades por eso la inscripción hasta los 16 años es gratuita para ell@s; así que nos hemos puesto manos a la obra para crear un campamento familiar donde podamos disfrutar de realizar actividades creativas juanto a nuestr@s hij@s y en un entorno natural inigualable, todo ello sin dejar de lado la estructura de encuentro como la de años anteriores donde invitaremos a colectivos y profesionales para que compartan sus experiencias y visiones con nosotros. Tendremos una comida sana y casera (avisad vegetarianos, veganos, alérgicos…) durante vuestra estancia y el alojamiento sera en una amplia zona de acampada donde podréis montar vuestras tiendas, allí conviviremos durante 5 días. Traed vuestros cubiertos, platos y vasos por favor, a nosotr@s nos es de gran ayuda en los eventos en los que hay que atender a mucha gente. La Recepcion de l@s participantes comenzara el día 5 de julio a partir de las 16:00 ( no pasa nada si llegáis un poco antes) y el evento finaliza tras la comida del día 10 de Julio.
