What we do

You‘ve entered international waters – Vlierhof is an intentional international community founded in 2002 by four members of the NL chapter of the GEN located in Keeken Germany.
Our vision is a world of truly peaceful and aware human beings living in harmony with nature. We do this through the practice of mindfulness, NVC, meditations, love,
compassion, mirroring, community, pluralism, and communal conflict resolution.
We strive to make a contribution to dealing with social and environmental problems like stress, loneliness, over-consumption, addictions, meaninglessness, and ignorance faced by socie-
ty today through social innovation (sociocracy), community building and personal development.
As far as possible, we try to achieve self-sustainable living in recognition of the interdependence of all life.
Vlierhof is basically a platform and a laboratory that allows playful experimentation, creative self-expression and permission to fail to succeed. It members are always balancing between ones individual needs and the needs of the community. We build according to (not only) the blueprint of Ecovillages and thereby strive to provide an alternative microcosmic model which the macro-cosmos of society can learn from.
We run a seminar and a 1.3 ha garden and thereby create not only a means to provide for one’s livelihood, but also a means of creative self-expression.
At Vlierhof we work together with nature, recognizing that we are part of the
larger web of life. We want to take care of our planet. We want to be an example for sustainable both inwardly and outwardly places to live and work and we hope the people who passes through Vlierhof become the agents of change needed.

Natural Building Workshop

Come study the art and practice of natural finishes. Learn how to utilize breathable, low impact, non-toxic materials to make protective, beautiful and durable finishes. In this in-depth hands-on workshop you will be applying earthen plaster to the interior and exterior of a Tiny Home, the Cedar Nest, at Wilson Creek Gardens. The Project The Cedar Nest is an on going project that started in 2013 utilizing 95% repurposed materials from a 1920’s home and from the land at WCG. The structure is designed to demonstrate simple construction techniques in a small footprint, 11’x16’. It was in-filled with a straw clay slip last year and now is ready for the walls to receive the final plaster layer. We will be utilizing mostly on-site materials. What You Will Learn: • Sourcing and processing materials for making your own healthy, low cost finishes! • Proper methods for natural ingredients when preparing and applying clay based plaster. • Practice making and applying other types of finishes which can be applied to other surfaces such as; cement, bricks, drywall and latex paint. • The many advantages of constructing a tiny home with ecologically friendly building techniques. Who will benefit from this workshop? Builders, homesteaders, homeowners, interior decorators and artists enjoy being able to make and apply these healthy finishes successfully to both interior and exterior walls. Class cost: Three-day: $320.00 Includes: meals and camping: $20.00 Early bird discount (if register by 6/24) Daily rate: $ 110.00 Includes lunch. VIII encuentro genero lakabe
