What we do

Instituto Biorregional do Cerrado – IBC was created in 2012 and has three main projects:

  • The ecovillage Ecoaldeia Aratikum, in which there are around 30 residents (20 adults and 10 children) living in houses built with ecological and permacultural techniques and constantly learning to live in community.
  • The educational center Ecocentro Pedagógico do IBC, in which we organize courses, workshops and “mutirões”, with the objective of being a center for constant teaching/learning. We aim to create and incubate knowledges, dreams and good practices for a better, more just and sustainable world.
  • The creation of a preservation area (RPPN – Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural) to preserve a very delicate area of our land which is very important to water catchment.

Additionally, as an institute, we also engage in political issues of our bio-region, through participation in local councils and partnerships in municipal environmental policies.

Introductorio DRAGON DREAMING
