We are an aspiring ecovillage initiative located in the rural township of Fuli in eastern Taiwan. This ecovillage was started by a husband-wife couple with the hopes of creating a healthy and natural space of living that facilitates healing of humans as well as the planet.
We are starting our ecovillage journey by managing a rice farm using natural farming method, selling rice and its derivative products (including miso, rice noodles, and rice cakes) and sell these products to sustain our living and support the ecovillage development. At the same time, we explore, experience and learn about the local social and environmental situation and experiment practical ways to develop an ecovillage according to the local context.
Being new comers to the rural and ecovillage way of living, we are taking a step by step approach towards sustainability. We are aware that our current behavior and way of living have a long way to go from the ecovillage ideals, but we are definitely taking small but concrete steps heading towards that direction. We really resonates with GEN’s idea that an ecovillage is a process instead of a particular outcome.
At the moment, we have grown to having five full time residents (4 adults and 1 toddler) living and working to manage our farm and develop our ecovillage. We have also recently purchased a piece of land and is planing to build structures and move there in the near future.
In the coming future, we are looking to develop our food garden and forest, building our natural buildings, develop courses and programs for people experience this way of living, having a naturopathy healing center, and also nature school.
