It is a hot summer day in 2015 when I just quit the company I worked with because I could not agree with bossy policy from my director. We had a big fight and I stopped working, then leaving the office in just 2 hours. When I was at home, my friend who worked with me in the NGO before, called me. She said ‘Hey Tuyet, remember the idea we discussed last time about tourism in Ha Giang? Why don’t we make it possible now but we focus more on responsible tourism, not mass tourism. You have social entrepreneurship skills and knowledge, I have education background to train the locals, and Trang has tourism background’. I happily said ‘Well, I don’t have anything to lose. Lets do it!’.
We quickly then drafted a plan. For the short-term plan, it was to sustain financially (meaning, we wouldn’t make any loss) but our long-term vision still: to increase employment in the tourism sector for the local community. We also provide tourists with authentic and responsible tourism experiences that allow them to contribute back to the local community.
