Hussainabad valley is a lush green with a scenic beauty with diverse landscape and traditional farming system. It is situated in the East of Skardu city in an ecologically significant area; just 10 minutes’ drive from the district headquarter, Skardu. Hussainabad is a small neighborhood in Skardu that lies enroute to Shigar. It has a number of attractions; one of them is the Hussainabad Broq. It is at an elevation on a sharp incline, covered in wild grass, with a staggering view of the Shigar desert and river.Hussainabad Broq has its own significance in the history of Baltistan. In old days, there was a trade route from this village to Deosai and to Kashmir.
The village is inhabited by Balti speakers, this ethnic group has Tibetan origin. The village people are friendly and peace loving. You will always see a warm smile on their faces. Even though the climate conditions are harsh and inhospitable, the village people of Hussainabad Broq are among the most friendly and hospitable people in the country. Baltistan is rich in culture which can be proved by the number of historic places and remnants of forts located in the region. Nearly 35 houses made by stacks of stones, mud and woods keep together some 240 inhabitants who are facing the harshness of cold weather for centuries.
The old buildings in the village are the true presentation of the typical Balti heritage where several generations have lived for centuries. These are built in old style with low-height roofs, very small windows to avoid cold air coming in during winters and storage rooms and livestock rooms in the basement.
The locals can serve you their local traditional food such as Balay (noodle soup with goat meat), Parpu (wheat noodles with walnut paste), Gyal (buckwheat cake), Marzan (buckwheat with apricot oil), Boiled goat meat (skinless), Butter tea (served with buckwheat flour).
People can visit and stay in community guest house and can hike nearby mountains
