Call for Posters for GEN+20

GEN+20 conference in Findhorn, Scotland, 6-10 July 2015:

Do you have interesting research findings on ecovillages that you want to share with ecovillagers from all over the world? The GEN Research Working Group is organizing a poster exhibition on research on ecovillages at the International Conference of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) in Findhorn, 2015.

You can either be an academic or a student who has conducted a research project in and around ecovillages. You can also be an ecovillage member who has brought together systematic insights, hard facts or data during a private survey. We invite you to share your discoveries, insights, and experience through the format of a poster.

Ecovillages are increasingly approached by students and other researchers who discover their value as holistic “laboratories of the future” in almost all areas of life and research or in many different sub-disciplinary fields.

GEN intends to make research on ecovillages more visible and to foster discussions between researchers and ecovillagers. The newly founded GEN Research Working Group is your address for getting support on contacting ecovillages for your research project and for sending your research results. The poster exhibition will be held in the foyer of the Universal Hall. There will be a meeting table around the topic of research. During the conference there will be announcements for time spots for visiting the exhibition.

We will let you know by mid-June if your poster is accepted for the research exhibition. We can also display your poster for you, in case you are unable to come to the conference (see poster submission guidelines). Poster Submission Guidelines

Size:

Poster, both in terms of textual and visual content, should be of professional quality and be clearly readable from a distance of four feet (4′). Hence, the size of the Poster should be no larger than 84 cm high x 119 cm wide (format A0)(please use panel format).

File-Format:

If your poster is selected, you can ask the Findhorn office to print it in maximum A0 format. Researchers would have to pay for the printing of their posters.

The format used for the poster should be either .jpeg or .pdf. The size of the font is suggested to be as follows: headings between 36-48 points and text body between 30-34 points.

At the Poster Exhibition: (If your poster is selected)

• Each presenter will be allowed to use only one poster place.
• All presenters should remain available during the specified times, standing next to their presentations to answer questions of delegates or other participants.
• Presenters will take care of their own display materials and handouts (supplementary take-aways) and for the set up and removal of their displays.
• There will be no electrical support or Internet connections at the exhibition venue.
• Findhorn does not allow presenters to market (through displays or distribution of promotional materials, etc.) commercial products, in any case.

Some considerations for your poster design:

• The poster should have a heading. Your name, qualifications and affiliations (ecovillage or university) of the author should be included under or next to the heading.
• The poster should speak for itself. It should clearly outline: the rationale of the work, a brief review of the literature, a simple statement or aim (multiple aims should be numbered), methodology employed, key findings, summary and conclusion, as well as figures and graphs for easy readability. The images used should be of high quality. Always cite sources if you borrow images/text/figures.
