2024 has been a powerful year for the Global Ecovillage Network; a year in which resilience emerged not just as a goal, but as a lived experience across our communities, our organisation, and our global network.
In a world increasingly defined by uncertainty, ecovillages shine as beacons of hope, resilience, and renewal.
2024 was a year in which the word resilience came alive—not only as an aspiration but as a shared, lived reality across our communities, our organization, and the entire network. From heatwaves to floods, from economic strains to moments of profound transformation, the ecovillage movement has shown what it means to face complexity with courage and creativity.
Through the Resilience 2.5+ project, we stood together with communities in 18 countries to ask a powerful question: Are we ready for a +2.5°C world? The answers emerged not only in data, but in relationships, in gardens, in learning spaces, and around shared fires. We learned. We adapted. We responded—with action.
Yet 2024 was not just about assessment. It was about action. We launched Keystone Communities, designed new digital tools, and began to reimagine our network’s infrastructure to meet a changing world. We nurtured innovation in food security, emergency response, and climate resilience. We deepened our commitment to the invisible threads—the relationships, trust, and mutual care—that hold our movement together.
It is a living testament to the regenerative power of community.
