About the event

Gaia Ashram in the North-East of Thailand is organizing a two weeks Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course. Gaia Ashram is a community, sustainable living learning center & a farm founded in 2013 with a vision to create a living & learning space that deepens our connection with nature and learn to work with nature. In this two weeks PDC there will be a lot of opportunity for us to connect on a deeper level with nature.

What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a design system that reconciles human communities with the ecological imperatives of a living planet. Permaculture is a way of organizing knowledge, a connecting systems that integrates science, art, politics, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and the diverse experiences and resources available in any community.

Gaia Ashram Permaculture Design Course

This Permaculture Design Course will be held in the spirit of Gaia Ashram where community living is the foundation of the learning. Like every program held at Gaia Ashram, we will build a sense of community among all the course participants and the people who live at Gaia Ashram. There will be space for skillshare, deep sharing and well being check – ins. Course participants are welcome to join the daily meditation & yoga/dance. Apart from deepening our connection with each other we will also take time to connect to wider community of all beings and to attune ourselves to the land.

The PDC course contains 72 hours of theory

The course will consist of a broad range of topics applicable to life anywhere on this planet, yet will be tailored to the needs of the students present as well as their climate zones. As part of the course, participants will help to co-create designs for real world projects that include elements such as food forests, permaculture-style gardens, natural building, water catchment, earthworks and social systems. I’m looking for a co-conspirator to help me tell the stories of the people quietly building the future: off-grid villages in the Philippines, permaculture farms in Senegal, urban cohousing projects in Berlin, elders passing down land wisdom in the Andes. It’s a wildly rich, wildly underrepresented world, and I want more people to fall in love with it the way I have. What you’ll actually do: Dream up and create content for Instagram and LinkedIn (reels, carousels, stories, captions that don’t sound like a corporate newsletter) Dig into our global network and turn your findings into stories people want to share Pitch your own ideas. If there’s a series, a theme, a format, or a corner of the network that lights you up, that’s what I want you to focus on. What we’re looking for: A natural storyteller, someone who can spot the human thread in a project update or a photo from a faraway village Genuinely curious about ecovillages, sustainability, intentional community, regenerative living Self-motivated and communicative; this is a flexible, trust-based role Why this role: This isn’t a “post 3x a week and don’t ask questions” internship. Donuimun Eco-Village Common House

Welcome to the Donuimun Eco-Village Common House, a place to share and learn, rest and play, in the heart of Seoul’s most appealing new neighbourhood. This project interprets the inaugural Seoul Biennale of Architecture & Urbanism theme, Imminent Commons, as a call to practical and collective action. We take the public occasion of the Biennale to imagine—at once playfully and seriously—that after the exhibition closes, this cultural zone might be retrofitted to become a new eco-village for Seoul (inspired by the Los Angeles Eco-Village). The resulting community would reuse these buildings to house its residents equitably, incubate enterprises of right livelihood, and enhance the ecological and sociable values of the spaces it shares with its neighbours and visitors. In the spirit of the Recycling Common, our exhibition at 35-40 Saemunan-ro contains a Give and Take shelf, where Biennale visitors are invited to donate and adopt pre-loved household items, from utensils to clothing to plants. Many Biennale visitors have already been taking items home, and we also encourage people to bring clean, working items to share with others. Items can simply be placed on the designated shelves within the exhibition.
