Ken Wilber and Doshin Roshi Honouring the role communities have played in the transformation of the world up until now – the movement from modernity to postmodernity. Highlighting the pain and struggles within these organisations – beliefs, values and preferences that contribute to a sense of ‘stuckness’. Creating curiosity about the medicine needed to support a breakthrough to the next level – what might communities of tomorrow look like once they have embodied this medicine? Sharing inspiration and support to expand the potential of each community – deepening the transformational impulse around the world. Join in as this event will be streamed live to communities, holistic centres and ecovillages around the world. The transformational and eco communities of today grew out of the 1960s era that has been called postmodern—the gifts of multiculturalism, diversity, inclusion, sensitivity, eco awareness. Some of the struggles include co-creating healthy hierarchies, effective decision making, attracting younger people, financial sustainability. Ken Wilber outlines the significance of this rare dialogue offered as a free live broadcast to post modern communities around the world, one that focuses on growing up, waking up, cleaning up and showing up: “The postmodern communities of transformation, including Findhorn, did two profoundly important things: in relative truth, they introduced an enchanted world instead of the disenchanted wasteland; and in ultimate Truth, they simpl

About the PRPT It is often said, “permaculture is different things for different people.” The diversity of the domains and activities of applied permaculture a.k.a. the permaculture flower certainly support this saying. In his latest book, David Holmgren, co-originator of permaculture has produced what is certainly one of the most significant contributions to permaculture in the last 30 years. Most importantly, it instructs us on how our designs and practice can actually make a meaningful impact in a world that desperately needs sustainability at the core of every conscious action. This book awakens one of the sleeping giants that influenced original permaculture design: Christopher Alexander’s, ‘A Pattern Language.’ Another book in that same series described a co-creation process which has been most recently refined by Otto Scharmer in his book Theory U. This 2-day course will first introduce the concepts of each of these incredibly important books that relate directly to effective permaculture design. Then applications of these theories will be shared until It will become obvious why this is the most significant and substantial evolution of permaculture. Relevant for people that are actively creating designs, considering possible future designs or even just living a normal life in a city, town or suburb anywhere on Earth. In other words, this course is for everyone. No experience in permaculture design is required and a primer of permaculture will be included for anyone that is completely new to the design method or that would like to have a recap of the main concepts. Spots are intentionally limited to allow complete immersion of participants in the course process. What You’ll Learn This introductory course will include both the history and theory of permaculture design & retrosuburbia, practical applications of the design methods, as well as diving into the commonalities and overlaps between the old (PDC) and the

Permaculture Design Course Thailand September 2nd to September 14th, 2019 Daruma Eco Farm, Bang Phra, Si Racha District, Chon Buri 20110, Thailand In the early days of permaculture, Bill Mollison’s Designer’s Manual was the stated standard for most PDC’s. Sometimes a PDC description would state that it officially covered the “14 chapters” which are listed here: Introduction (to permaculture) Concepts and Themes in Design Methods of Design Pattern Understanding Climatic Factors Trees and their Energy Transactions Water Soils Earthworking and Earth Resources The Humid Tropics Dryland Strategies Humid Cool to Cold Climates Aquaculture The Strategies of an Alternative Global Nation In a few places, these chapters can serve as a guide for a PDC that will wind through the maze of design concepts and supporting background material. The Daruma PDC definitely covers the topics in these 14 chapters but this is not the order (or format) it is presented. Every PDC course here at Daruma begins with an orientation tour of the farm to give you an overall impression of how individual elements integrate with each other. This often generates a broad range of questions. We will, however, hold off on answering most of these questions initially but don’t worry, if the course material doesn’t answer them, they will be answered in time. We also spend some time getting to know each other and sharing our goals. One reason for not answering all the questions in the beginning is the most common answer in permaculture courses is, “it depends.” So it takes a little time to establish the basic foundations which we start on right away. That foundation begins with two important topics: The state of the world (why we need permaculture design thinking) and what is permaculture and where did it come from (a comprehensive overview). The overview includes a good discussion on ‘influences’ on permaculture. Permaculture has been influenced by, incorporat
