Eco Caminhos started in 2014, we are a volunteer based community in the middle of the beautiful and extremely biodiverse Atlantic Forest ecosystem of the Brazilian mountains.
We look at the world and we see a failed and collapsing system that is clashing with the life-sustaining cycles of nature, we also see the desperate need for a more humane and natural alternative, a better way of life where both people and our planet can grow and flourish as one. We are committed to be that sustainable and holistic option, and help turn it into a reality for others and society as a whole.
To achieve this EcoCaminhos strides to follow the Permaculture principles. We believe in community, social work, hard work, commitment and respecting any person and nature equally. Our Focus is in Bio-construction, Agro-forestry, Organic Farming and healthy active human development.
Even though we are located in a remote rural area away from the hectic lifestyle of modern society, we still belive that in order to have a lasting and truly positive impact we need to reach others. We do this through volunteer programs, theory and practical courses, experiences and Eco-tourism that carry this message, philosophy and knowledge to the masses while at the same time giving our community the necessary impulse to keep on developing, not for the sake of personal or financial goals, but instead for the sake of our planet and it’s people, all of whom need this ideas to spread far and wide as quickly as possible if we want to truly heal this terrible wound we have inflicted against our planet, and hence against ourselves as well.
We believe in directly helping the youth in need of Brazil. Poverty is a devastating way of structural violence within our current system, and to fight it we have created apprenticeship programs with which we give housing, financial and educational support for teens in need while at the same time training them on Permaculture, Bioconstruction, Organic Farming and Agro-forestry.

Eco Caminhos is a great program! It teaches you about bio construction and permaculture, it gives you the opportunity to experience Brazil, a great country with many beautiful things to see, hear, taste and experience, and also puts you in contact with people from all over the world that come to volunteer here. The whole Eco Caminhos experience helps you get in contact with nature, with people, and most important with yourself. Being away from the city “jungle” and the hectic life it requires, you’ll be more able to clear your thoughts and you’ll have more time to connect with yourself and people and nature around you. Because of all these, experiencing Eco Caminhos it’s a must do if you’ll ask me 🙂
I had a very good experiance at Eco Caminhos. The staff is sensational. The group is the great strength of the project. Those responsible for the agroforestry taught me a lot about planting, and the people of the bioconstruction made me feel able to build a small house using bamboo or wood structure and the cob.
