We are a group of +/- 20 Georgian and international people, planning to settle together in the countryside to pursue a sustainable lifestyle. We are creating an innovative living and working space for ca. 30 households. After a long preparation period, in December 2023 we have bought a wonderful 6,5 ha plot of land at the foot of the Caucasus in sub-tropical Kakheti, ca. 2,5 hours from Tbilisi.
Our vision: “We are a voluntarily self-organized, non-hierarchical community, thriving in mutual respect and support. We are co-learning and implementing approaches to Regenerative ecology and culture. Being interconnected with the wider community, we desire to create a sustainable society”
We are a non-hierarchical organization, making decisions based on consent. We share core values and pursue similar lifestyles in all our diversities. Members have been coming and going, each contributing with ideas and energy.
The village will feature:
– residential plots in private ownership where residents can create their own environmental friendly living space
– Co-housing spaces for volunteers, travelers and prospect members
– Community Center to connect, learn, organize events, trainings, retreats and host visitors.
– Communal gardens and food forest that will provide a large share of the food for inhabitants and visitors.
– Artisanal workshops and tool sharing
– Social and private businesses by (groups of) residents
– A kindergarten and a school based on modern child led education
Membership & Visitors
- Current members: 10
- Open to new members
- Open to visitors
We have bought our land in Eastern Georgia which is currently under development. We are open to more volunteers and future residents. We do not yet live on the land but visit regularly and work from spring 2024 on different projects, as well as online.
The land of the Ecovillage hold by a non profit organization and collectively managed by its inhabitants and community members. Each inhabitant lends a sum of money and is entitled to a plot of land to build their house and sustain themselves. The Ecovillage will finance infrastructure and maintenance through its members/inhabitants loans, grants and communal businesses.
If you share our values and would like to be part of Ecovillage Georgia, there are several options to join us:
1. As a residents you will live on the land and have access to your own plot of land to build your house/ place / small business. You have access to all to community services. Residents give loans of 5000 USD or more per person, which is re-fundable. You are also expected to contribute some of your time and talents to the development of the Ecovillage according to abilities. There will be an at least 6 month probation period of active participation as a prospective resident to make sure that the match is a good one for everyone. Within this period there will be online and physical meetings.
2. As a supporter by giving a donation or a loan. You will have our eternal love and access to some community services and events.
3. As a volunteer: We are looking for builders, gardeners, financial and fundraising talents, legal specialists, communication coordinators, landscape planning, green architects, educators and other people who would like to work, learn and live with us.

I’m interested in hearing more about your vision. My husband and I are toying with the idea of finding an eco village but definitely want to make sure it isn’t politicized and mostly about having a peaceful way of living. We are looking to leave our current place next year in April or so and it would be neat to get in early and help build a community, so if you could get back to us with more info that would be great!

Hello,
I am currently studying to be an artist-educator and your project sounds very interesting. It will be 2,5 more years before I graduate, and I can see myself and my kids be part of your village.
Greetings,
Bibi (Netherlands)

Hi ! Great to read about the progress of the eco village.
My name is Charlotte , I am currently cycling with my partner Arnaud, across Central Asia and Europe. We are raising awareness on cycling and upcycling (reusing old materials to make something else of an equal or greater value). We would also love to contribute / volunteering on a short period to thus eco village over this winter. Happy to discuss about it ! @les2pignons (Ig)

Bitte schreibt hier, wie ihr euch mit dem nicht weit entfernten traditionellen Dorf und der georgischen Gemeinschaft vernetzt habt.
Ecovillage Georgia says
Hi Uggla, the new land we have found is quite close to a traditional village, and we plan to cooperate closely with the local communities.
