Join Gaia Education’s Social Design for Sustainability course and learn practical effective ways to create the change we all seek. Our distinct programme is your chance to learn about the different ways to participate in this (r)evolutionary shift in paradigms. Our aim is to give you a better understanding of the true meaning of social equity and participatory action, and to enable participants to apply transformative tools that align us with more resilient social systems. Our relationship with others is too dear to let it default to old domineering paradigms. Many of us feel that our current social system is no longer sustainable and that more compassionate and just ways of organising are possible, but what are the alternatives? It is a commonly held belief that there are things individuals can do to change the system or improve their social condition but within the context of a complex global community, the effectiveness of isolated individual action is limited. We all co-create the system in which we live so once we join with others and work for a shared vision to improve the situation in our communities we participate in a powerful force for positive change If you have been part of a group, you already know that one of the most common reasons for failure of group projects is conflict. Conflict is a structural issue in the formation of groups so propagating successful group projects will necessarily entail a healing process in which we step out of the cycles of pain and violence that have run through human history and take responsibility for initiating new patterns. The EDE (Ecovillage Design Education) 2020 Glarisegg is currently welcoming 57 participants for 5 weeks. In this exploration of creating a transformative culture, we will each day, during the online summit, screen one interview :)

In this program you will learn how to plan, create and nurture regenerative human settlements. You will gain new perspectives and understandings as well as a variety of tools for how we as human beings can become caretakers for the whole ecosystem; how we can create abundant and diverse community systems, gardens and landscapes by connecting to and understanding ourselves, our communities and our land in deeper ways. By learning to observe the patterns of life and its energy flows and cycles, by learning to work with them instead of against them, you will emerge with a complex skillset to bring about regenerative creative solutions in your life. This unique course brings Permaculture Design together with the indigenous cultural wisdom gathered by the international Nature Connection and Regenerative Culture movement and its networks, creating a cultural container that supports you on a journey into yourself, your community and the world around you. You will be immersed in this culture throughout the program as well as learn how to facilitate it in your own personal and professional context at home. This course will be a powerful, transformative community experience, enabled by a deep immersion into nature, music, and the presence of cultural visionaries and elders, all hosted in an evolving ecovillage in the magnificent mountains of the Swiss Alps.
