Profile types ( Individual, Community & Organization)
There are three types of profiles you’ll encounter in the directory:
People — An individual member of the platform, whether they’re exploring community living, looking to join, searching for co-founders, already living in one, or offering professional skills.
Community — An intentional community listing: ecovillages, cohousing, co-ops, communes, coliving houses, and more.
Organization — A nonprofit, network, or service provider that supports the intentional community movement.
You can browse all three in the Directory without an account. Creating a profile unlocks the ability to connect, engage, and be found.
How to filter and search directory
The directory shows Communities, People, and Organizations. By default, all three are active (shown in green). To narrow by type, click any tab to deselect it — only the highlighted types will appear in results.
Filters let you refine further by location, keywords, and community-specific criteria like development stage, main purpose, governance, and more. Hit Search to apply, or Clear to reset.
The refresh icon next to the keyword field resets the visible map area, useful if you’ve panned around and want results to re-anchor to your location.
To focus on the list without the map, use the Hide Map option.
How to add a community or organization
If your community or organization isn’t listed, you can add it directly from the directory by clicking on the “+”.
This will take your to a profile form. Read the submission guidelines before you start and don’t forget to “save draft” as you go.
Profiles can be added by non-members, so long as the information being shared was made public by members of the project.
How to use match feature
Profile Match is available to Plus members — it surfaces communities, people or organizations based on compatibility with your own profile, so results reflect not just what’s out there but what fits you.
You will see a percentage for how strong of a match each profile is.
When you adjust your Ideal Community Preferences when editing your profile, your matches will change accordingly.
