What we do

We are a family with mixed nationalities with two young kids (4 and 8), about to establish a regenerative farm in Kopaniec, in the Izery mountains of south-west Poland (2 hrs drive from Wroclaw, Prague, and Dresden, 20min drive from Jelenia Góra). We are committed to agroecology, sustainable building techniques and environmental regeneration of the Earth. We call this project “Deep Roots” because we believe in the need of any long-lasting culture to be anchored in the land, giving us a space to learn about the place we live, die and get recycled back into this dance of life.
We intend to develop the Deep Roots into a fertile, beyond organic, abundant landscape of ponds, productive trees, perennial gardens, holistically managed pastures, and living structures built from natural resources. We aim to establish a model polyculture system for soil regeneration based on holistic management, keyline design, permaculture, and water-wise landscaping and build different types of ecological houses. An integral part of our work is outreach, education, encouragement, and research. This center for regenerative community is meant to become a place for shared learning, experimenting with new ideas, adding new tools to one’s “toolbox”, and exploring ones’ potential and creativity whilst serving the land. We’re dedicated to providing unique, best-practice courses, workshops, and counsel to give people and communities skills and confidence to create their own resilient systems and grow their own roots.

How to join

New members of the community will acquire private ownership title to one of the buildable plots (1500-2500 m2) and the right to access to the non-buildable part of the property (meadows, stream, forest) where any future investments would be limited to environmental friendly ones. Membership will be bound with responsibilities towards the land and community itself, therefore in case of leaving the community, any future buyer will need to endorse the same rules and get approval of existing members after a trial period.
We will start building most probably at the beginning of 2020, so we have a year to form a group and get to know each other. We hope to make a final decision on first project members till summer 2020 and we assume that in order to make informed decision anyone truly interested would spend at least 6 months in the close area in order to find out whether it’s a good fit for everyone.
If you are interested, please send us a letter of interest along with answers to these 4 questions:
Why do you want to join the project described above?
How would you describe yourselves (each member of the family – background, interests, passions, etc.)?
What skills you have that could be beneficial for the land and for the community?
Why do you think you/your family would be a great part of this forming, land-based group?

Social Media Intern for GEN International Hours: Up to 20/month, flexible around your schedule and availability Location: Remote, work with Eva Goldfarb Focus: Instagram + LinkedIn (TikTok if you’re into it!) Hi! I’m Eva, and I run social media for GEN International — the global network connecting ecovillages, intentional communities, and regenerative culture-builders across every continent. I’m looking for a co-conspirator to help me tell the stories of the people quietly building the future: off-grid villages in the Philippines, permaculture farms in Senegal, urban cohousing projects in Berlin, elders passing down land wisdom in the Andes. It’s a wildly rich, wildly underrepresented world, and I want more people to fall in love with it the way I have. What you’ll actually do: Dream up and create content for Instagram and LinkedIn (reels, carousels, stories, captions that don’t sound like a corporate newsletter) Dig into our global network and turn your findings into stories people want to share Pitch your own ideas. If there’s a series, a theme, a format, or a corner of the network that lights you up, that’s what I want you to focus on. What we’re looking for: A natural storyteller, someone who can spot the human thread in a project update or a photo from a faraway village Genuinely curious about ecovillages, sustainability, intentional community, regenerative living Self-motivated and communicative; this is a flexible, trust-based role Why this role: This isn’t a “post 3x a week and don’t ask questions” internship. You’ll have real creative freedom to work on what excites you, learn how a global grassroots network tells its story, and build a portfolio full of meaningful, purpose-driven content. Plus you’ll be talking to people living some of the most interesting, intentional lives on the planet. If storytelling for a better world sounds like your kind of fun, let’s talk.

European Ecovillage Conference

The Global Ecovillage Network Europe (GEN Europe) announces the 21st edition of its summer conference, “Conscious Happiness: Living the Future Today- Solidarity, Resilience & Hope” July 16th-20th 2017 at the Swedish ecovillage Ӓngsbacka. This annual event, which draws hundreds of intentional communitarians and their supporters from across Europe each year, offers speakers, expositions, workshops and a place to meet, inspire and be inspired. In an era of uncertain ecological and political futures, Robert Hall, GEN Europe’s Council President, invites participants to “come and network with Europe’s grassroots change-makers. Join us to learn ways of increasing your happiness while being of greater service to humanity and the planet.” This year’s conference themes of Solidarity, Resilience and Hope will weave into conference workshops and activity tracks, gathered together by keynote speakers Charles Eisenstein and Helena Norberg-Hodge. Keynote Speakers Charles Eisenstein is a self-described “degrowth activist” and the internationally-acclaimed author of “Sacred Economics” and “The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible”, described by Publisher’s Weekly as “a revolutionary and interactive book…inspires the reader to think out of the ordinary.” He has been described as “one of the up-and-coming great minds of our time.” Helena Norberg-Hodge is a pioneer of the ‘new economy’ movement, where she has been promoting an economics of personal, social and ecological well-being for more than thirty years. She is an author, filmmaker and director of the organization Local Futures, which promotes a systemic shift away from e
