Granja Ecologica Nuevo Sol was an Farm and Environmental Education School that was born in the rural area of Silao, Guanajuato, in November 2010 with the goal of developing a sustainable life proposal for the Mexican Bajío. Once we have found our way, share what you have learned with the community through courses, workshops and visits to the farm.
One of the most important activities of the Organic Farm was to produce food using the GROW BIOINTENSIVE® method of Ecology Action®.
With the purpose of bringing Granja Ecologica Nuevo Sol project closer to the community of Leon, the decision was made to change the location of the facilities to consolidate the integration in a single property of all the activities of food production, environmental education school and offices. This is how Granja Ecologica Nuevo Sol becomes in January 2021 in Huerto Urbano Nuevo Sol.
Today Huerto Urbano Nuevo Sol is an organization dedicated to environmental education, located in the city of Leon, Guanajuato. It is a space of Sensitization and Connection between urban life and Mother Earth. We are dedicated to promoting the formation of a Community of individuals and initiatives in favor of building a Future of Hope through the practice, research and dissemination of Sustainable Organic Farming on a Human Scale, Grow Biointensive®. Training people, creating soil and growing healthy food in a sustainable and abundant way, ensuring food security of Mexico and taking an active position against climate change.
HUNS is a Living Home that offers its inhabitants a sustainable urban way of life. It evolves and feeds back by sharing with the community what has been learned from the experiences lived along the way. It is an essential entity in the process to make Leon a greener city, where adopting a way of life in harmony with Mother Earth is possible and achievable.
Our main areas of work are:
