About our community
I am coming from a very small village Durdih which is situated in Lakhisarai, Bihar which is coming under the semi-arid zone. Durdih village has 3000 population and all are involved in farming activities. Using fertilizer and doing monoculture made the land unfertile and now this became the challenge for farmers. Because of low income in farming, more than 1000 youths left the village and migrated to cities to find work.
The origin story of Khetee
Living with these questions, I got the chance to visit different farms and ecovillages of India. From where I got the idea of regenerative agroforestry, which is not only economically profitable but also ecologically sustainable. In 2018 started creating the first model farm on half-acre of land with the support of 10 marginalized peasants in Durdih village. Whereas earlier farmers were able to take only two seasonal crop wheat and rice, we got more than 6 varieties of crops including fruit, vegetables, pulses and medicinal leaves from the first 3 months. In 2019, Lakhisarai district was under the drought-prone zone and no farms were able to cultivate anything, but our farm was sustaining and we cultivated around 10 varieties of crops and fruits.
Khetee- Regenerative Agroforestry Farm
We have restored 4 acres of land from monoculture practices to regenerative agroforestry where we plant around 24 types of crops and plants together and all grow together. Inside the farm we have found ample impact in changing soil quality, soil water retaining capacity, natural biodiversity and changing the quality of yields which helps in carbon sequestration, groundwater level recharge and making the ecosystem sustainable.

For joining here you have to engage in some work as a volunteer according to your interest. You can choose to work on education, agroforestry, organization level work, processing work or you can do something on community development. We also love to host researcher to come and do research on the ground and we help in collecting all secondary data. You can also come with your certain skills and help us like photography.
