What we do

The first family that migrated from the city 15 years ago and got to Cocorná, an autochthonous and beautiful village located in the middle of the Andes Mountains in Colombia, arrived from the calling of the mountain in search of new meaning and purpose of life. Along with the countryside neighbours, they built an Eco-hotel and later, they destined part of the land for a community and an Ancestral School. The community grew wider as more families arrived and we started buying land within the same mountain guided by our common mission as guardians of nature and protectors of the seed of life. We are around 10 neo-rural families and “La Aldea” is a one-hectare cell part of this wider community where we protect around 70 hectares of native wild forest and 25 hectares of regenerated land as we co-create a “life-based” educative alternative for ourselves, our families, neighbours, and people who are longing to recognize their higher purpose by learning and remembering our ancestral and spiritual origins. Several indigenous leaders accompany our process as they also come and settle with us to keep learning, co-creating, and merging the wisdom of both worlds through pedagogic processes that unite the countryside and the town converging in the foundation of a Transition Town.
We live in gratitude and peace, together gracefully enjoying the celebration of life.
“La Aldea” is the name of the main headquarters of the Multiversidad Mastay, envisioned to colour the land with student residencies, an animal farm, a cultural house, a central “Maloka” temple, edible gardens and timber forest, perennial food gardens, lots of art and communitarian education processes.

How to join

Once people arrive, they are invited to live with us either running one of our courses, as volunteers or as temporary residents with previous agreements. After a period of getting to know each other, our connection and also the embrace from the mountain is vital for people to make the decision to either buy their own land or merge with one of the projects and lands already established.
It’s a “come, relate and co-create” invitation :)
