We are a multigenerational intentional community and nonprofit education center located on 87 acres of diverse forest ecosystems. Lost Valley is also a community land trust and federally-recognized low-income housing facility, providing access to land for sustainable community living. We have 40 full-time residents ranging from ages 1-78, and actively work to build a culture of equity, diversity, compassion, respect, and mutual upraising within relationship. We use consent-based decision-making inspired by Sociocracy, practice Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and steward this land for increased biodiversity, oak savanna restoration, and local food resilience. Lost Valley offers education in permaculture, regenerative farming and forestry, ecovillage design, natural building, intercultural and ancestral arts, NVC, conflict resolution, and community self-governance for social and ecological resilience.

Our internships offer skill development in the areas of regenerative farming, land stewardship, marketing, maintenance and administration, while having the chance to live in our community and observe the processes of our sociocracy-inspired governance systems. Our courses include the annual Permaculture Design Certificate Course, seasonal immersive Community Experience Weeks, Natural Building with Cob, Social Forestry, and an Indigenous-led ancestral arts project for becoming People of Place. We also host other course providers and events, such as the Willamette Fire Ignitions Network’s Wildland Firefighter trainings, the Conscious Growth Convergence festival, seasonal celebrations for building local food resilience, and more.
