The Global Eco-village Network, in French World Network of Eco-villages grouped by region including Africa, promotes the creation of eco-villages that are communities of men living in harmony with their environment in respect of the land.
In the Central African Republic it was created on 05/11/2013 and had the status of association governed by the law n ° 61/233 of May 27, 1961 on March 30, 2016. Involved in the sustainable management of the resources and the environment, it contributes to capacity building of stakeholders in eco-village strategies, to promote intercultural exchange, alternative education, gender mainstreaming, social entrepreneurship for sustainable development and adaptation to climate change with strong expertise in other forest governance processes.
GEN-RCA has expertise in this area through multiple training and capacity building with the MINUSCA Gender Section, the Center for International Development and Training (CIDT) and its traditional technical partner the Center for Environmental Information and Sustainable Development (CIEDD). It has benefited from a project funded by the GLOBAL GREENGRANTS FUND (GGF), currently being implemented, called “Participation of women from Lobaye (M’baĂŻki) to reforms in decision-making bodies: Objectif Agenda 2030” which allowed to technically support the administration, local and indigenous communities for a better understanding of gender mainstreaming through different training and capacity building, facilitating the identification on inquiry of obstacles to women’s participation in decision-making bodies for forest management.
GEN – CAR is in it’s first local project with subvention of the Global GreenGrants Fund. The association is making mobilization of communities with the help of authorities who are sensibilized about the project and informed for Ă©covillages.
