Jerry Kurtyka – I have over 50 years of diverse, international experience in banking, IT, marketing, and non-profit enterprise. Most recently before retiring in 2013 I was the Broadband Project Manager for the El Paso Public Library Virtual Village program, an $8.4MM federal educational grant to deploy 70 new public computer centers combined with computer literacy and workforce development training that trained over 165,000 El Paso residents. I am a 25 year Sierra Club member, environmental activist and a local leader in consciousness education (IONS).
My ecovillage experience includes a 2012 visit to Findhorn, completing the Gaiaeducation Design for Sustainability curriculum, and a total seven months residency at a Canadian ecovillage.
I am especially interested in systems thinking and have studied it since 1970, including graduate credits in systems theory. Recently, I taught systems thinking as a component of the Ecovillage Design Education course. I also presented a 2008 weekend seminar at the Esalen Institute (Big Sur, CA) entitled, Systems Theory and Thinking – the Science of Wholeness.
