We are excited to announce the first FULL PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE (PDC) that will be hosted in Tinos Eco-lodge with two knowledgeable teachers and lifelong farmers from England, Dr. Rod Everett and his colleague Mill Millichap who are teaching permaculture since 1990 in various parts of the world and are coming to Greece and spreading the permaculture philosophy and way of life for the last 5 years.

This PDC is fully certified by the Permaculture Association (Britain).

The Permaculture Design Certificate is a 72 hour theoretical course based on Bill Mollison’s Designers Manual, teaching how we can use today’s tools and technology to create a more sustainable world. Permaculture is not only about growing vegetables and animals, it is a whole sustainable lifestyle. Permaculture ethics are Earth Care, People Care and Return of Surplus and this is taught by showing students to focus on local resources and their local community, and to have well thought out design practices to create abundance sustainably.

Anyone who wants to bring a big change in his life and way of thinking is welcome to participate, there is no need of previous knowledge of the subject.

At the Tinos Ecolodge you will have the opportunity to see stone built houses with local materials, an off-grid system for energy production for the whole lodge which is powered by solar panels, collection of rain water system, reedbed filtration sewage system, indoor compost toilets with the Aquatron separation system, outdoor compost toilets, outdoor kitchen and shower filtration systems and a lot more to be built and learned during the seminar.

Teachers

Rod has gained his teaching certificate in 1990 with Lea Harrison who ran a teacher training course and advanced design course in his farm in 1990. This started most of the UK permaculture teaching. Later he participated in a creative teaching

Zegg Summer Guests

You work in our kitchen, garden or guesthouse or with our site maintenance and landscaping team. A variety of work is available, from light to physically demanding – so there should be something for everyone. Summer guests work about five hours per day from Monday to Saturday, so there is enough time left for enjoying our site and making contacts. Every day the summer guest group meets for a morning attunement and for an evening session with group dialogues or other offers. Summer guests are required to stay for at least one full week. Arrival is always on Sundays (we can be flexible for those travelling from afar). Timber Frame Tiny House Course

Timber frame construction is one of the oldest forms of building that remains in use today. The art of timber framing dates back to some of man’s first primitive structures; using large greenwood timbers slotted together to form stunning, natural structures without the need for nails. This course gives you a hands-on approach to learning this craft. Over a week’s tuition, you will gain a broad understanding of calculating, crafting and building a timber frame structure. You will practice woodworking techniques with hand tools and power tools and, as part of a close-knit team, you will produce a beautiful 10m² traditional timber frame. Learn about the tools you need; how to use them safely and how to look after them, including sharpening techniques. You will also learn about choosing the right timber, understanding individual logs and how milled timber moves during seasoning. Through understanding the process and gaining the practical skills to construct a range of different joints, you’ll be prepared to design and build your own structures, limited only by your imagination! Timber framing is a skill that you can continue to grow in your own time, it’s is a real investment in your personal and professional development. Beginners and Advanced Carpentry Even though no experience is necessary to do this course, if you pick up the techniques quickly or already have competent carpentry skills, there is plenty of opportunity to work on more complex joints on the build. After a week of hands-on learning, we will erect the completed frame and see the results of our collective hard work: an exquisite, handcrafted 10m² tiny house frame that you can replicate at home or adapt to suit your own needs – a stunning, tiny space that will stand the test of time. Spaces are limited to 8 people per course to ensure each person gets the attention needed to learn the craft. The course runs from 2pm Sunday through to 12pm Saturday. Com
