Hi! I’m Eva, and I run social media for GEN International — the global network connecting ecovillages, intentional communities, and regenerative culture-builders across every continent. I’m looking for a co-conspirator to help me tell the stories of the people quietly building the future: off-grid villages in the Philippines, permaculture farms in Senegal, urban cohousing projects in Berlin, elders passing down land wisdom in the Andes. It’s a wildly rich, wildly underrepresented world, and I want more people to fall in love with it the way I have. What you’ll actually do: Dream up and create content for Instagram and LinkedIn (reels, carousels, stories, captions that don’t sound like a corporate newsletter) Dig into our global network and turn your findings into stories people want to share Pitch your own ideas. If there’s a series, a theme, a format, or a corner of the network that lights you up, that’s what I want you to focus on. What we’re looking for: A natural storyteller, someone who can spot the human thread in a project update or a photo from a faraway village Genuinely curious about ecovillages, sustainability, intentional community, regenerative living Self-motivated and communicative; this is a flexible, trust-based role Why this role: This isn’t a “post 3x a week and don’t ask questions” internship. You’ll have real creative freedom to work on what excites you, learn how a global grassroots network tells its story, and build a portfolio full of meaningful, purpose-driven content. La PERMACULTURA es una metodología de DISEÑO de sistemas naturales y construidos en escalas grandes y pequeñas, que tienen como objetivo la VIDA SUSTENTABLE de todos los seres con los que compartimos el planeta tierra, proveyendo y satisfaciendo las necesidades de la humanidad, construyendo un futuro abundante y próspero para todos. Su nombre PERMA-CULTURA viene de sistemas de agricultura que por ser sostenibles, permanecen a través del tiempo. Este curso estará enfocado hacia la regeneración de ecosistemas de la zona Altoandina Tropical resaltando las especies animales y vegetales, suelos, condiciones climáticas, modelos constructivos, culturales, entre otros, propios de dichos ecosistemas o provenientes de otros, pero acordes a estos., y acordes a su conservación. Al final del curso estarás en la capacidad de: Dar una explicación breve sobre lo que es la permacultura y su campo de acción, a parte de quedar enamorada/o eternamente de ella. Reconocer algunas de las especies animales y vegetales de nuestro territorio, y su manejo a grandes rasgos, a parte de tener a disposición la información necesaria para cuando decidas utilizar esos conocimientos y llevarlos a la práctica. Reconocer la clase de suelos que tenemos a nuestra disposición, su uso adecuado y aprovechamiento de técnicas ancestrales y actuales para su regeneración, aprovechamiento y mantenimiento a través del tiempo. Explorar las condiciones climáticas de un lugar específico y utilizarlas a nuestro favor en los sistemas de agricultura, construcción, manejo hídrico, sistemas de animales entre otros. Identificar el manejo del agua, como se hace una cosecha, almacenamiento, uso eficiente de ésta, el manejo del agua en el paisaje con un diseño hidrológico, el manejo de laderas, los cultivos acuáticos, entre otros. Ecovillage Youth Exchange Connecting youth and communities across continents This year five young people from Senegal and five young people from Germany will have the chance to share their knowledge about ecology and social justice while diving into each other’s cultures thanks to a collaborative project between GEN Africa and GEN Europe. The project envisions an exchange for young adults involved in the ecovillage movements in Africa and Europe, where we explore steps towards healing and reconciliation between and within the two continents. We will focus on youth empowerment through skill-building and exchange of knowledge around ecological living, education, and project development, working towards a regenerative and community-oriented future. In July-August 2022, a group of Senegalese youth will be welcomed into an ecovillage in Germany, then in November-December, the German participants will travel to either Guédé Chantier or Bambey Serere ecovillage in Senegal. During the exchange, the participants will explore the core question of how young adults in the ecovillage movement can empower and support each other in their activism for change while exploring steps towards healing and reconciliation between the African and European continents. The group will be accompanied by group leaders, and the process will be supported by trainers, facilitators, and a team of support volunteers. The outcome of the exchange will be guided by the participants’ skills, interests, and experiences – but it could result in new exchange projects, an exhibition, a film, or a theatre piece.
