Community Building experience (Dragon dreaming; Sociocracy; Work that reconnects; Six thinking hats; Spirals of abundance, and much more) Thinking of creating an eco village, an intentional community, or looking to create a community project, and want to understand and experience: – How to begin – How to find the right people – How to keep people together in harmony – How to have fun in the process! Amazing projects failing to go the distance is a well recognised pattern, and as you maybe well have already experienced, it is usually due to lack of cohesion between people and a clear shared vision But there are also well recognized patterns, and plenty of community tools which do allow projects to last… and we are excited to share these with you all. DATES – 13th- 20th of May 2016: 7 day community building experience (arriving the evening of the 13th) For people who can only attend at the weekend the first and last 2 days will be distinct courses: – 14th and 15th 2016: 2 day introduction to Sociocracy (collaborative decision making) – 21st-22nd: 2 day course on Water Management (Theory and Practical: Collection, Storage and Distribution) WHAT TO EXPECT During this 7 day experience we will look at what causes projects to fail, so we can learn to spot potential pitfalls, we will then not only learn, but actively put into practice the patterns and tools that allow projects and communities to succeed. For 7 days we will form a community, that works out how to nurture and support each other and live together in complete harmony. We will make collaborative decisions on how we achieve this. Hence the first 2 days of this experience will learn about and use an invaluable community decision making tool called Sociocracy (also known as Dynamic governance). Join us in Frelighsburg, QC for a full-time, two-week Permaculture Design Certification. The PDC program follows the internationally recognized curriculum provided by Bill Mollison. During this course, we will observe and follow the natural principles that drive ecological systems. We will learn, through both theory and hands-on practice, how to integrate these principles in designing our lives, homes, lands, and communities. Upon completion of this course, you will obtain your Permaculture Design Certificate. This certification will allow you to pursue a permaculture diploma and give you the fundamentals to begin integrating permaculture principles into your career, life, endeavours or enterprise. This course is held on a 268-acre domain equipped with a private lake, a beautiful little river with a small waterfall, all of which is located 1km from the sacred Abenaki mountain of Mont Pinacle (visible from the house) and 3km away from the charming village core of Frelighsburg, QC. It is 5km away from the Vermont border and thus, easily accessible for our neighbours to the South. The property has a small apple orchard area with 4 different kinds of apples trees growing. The land is partially forested with 2 long walking trails and partly cleared (about 5 acres) for 2 organic agricultural projects. ​ ​The property enjoys lots of sunshine and privacy. And there is a fire pit area with seating and picnic tables. The host will provide some farming tools to share with the participants and you are welcome to bring yours also. There is a canoe and kayak for early morning boating on the lake and there is also the possibility of a small sweat spot near the lake for our PDC guests in August. En este curso aprenderás cómo construir tu propio invernadero con caña de una forma sencilla. Durante 3 días trabajaremos en equipo, aprenderemos diferentes técnicas de estructuras con caña y los beneficios de la reutilización de materiales. Experimentaremos las distintas fases de construcción y conoceremos los aspectos y detalles del proceso: – Herramientas y materiales – La caña: selección, recolección, preparación y usos. – El terreno: Elección, preparación y marcado. – Preparar columnas para los arcos para la estructura. – Preparar los arcos – Materiales de protección sobre los arcos. – Puertas – Colocar el plástico. Al final del curso habrás conseguido los conocimientos y las habilidades necesarias para construir tu propio invernadero donde y para quien quieras con un coste muy reducido en los materiales y de forma sencilla. También habrás aprendido a trabajar con la caña en general, diferentes técnicas de estructuras con caña, arcos y soportes, que te permitirán realizar otro tipo de estructuras, pergolados, etc…. “Ahora es el momento de obtener las habilidades necesarias para el futuro” Para quien: Ideal para autoconstructor@s, personas involucradas en cooperación al desarrollo, agricultura y actividad social en zonas urbanas, rurales así como en países en vías de desarrollo.
