Ecovillage “Zeleni Kruchi” (“Green Hills” in Ukrainian) was founded in 2012 in a picturesque hilly area, 140 km to the south from Kyiv, in an ordinary Ukrainian village.
The nature here is rich. Forests are beautiful and full of mushrooms. Fields are covered with medicinal herbs. There are several ponds where you can see swans.
The village has electricity, gas and good internet. It will take you two hours by car to get here from Kyiv or three hours by direct bus.
The settlement unites eight families (2020) and continues to grow.
We are a group of friendly and active people of different ages. We left big cities to have a healthier place to live. We care about environment and our health. We grow our food, build houses with cob and straw, and constantly develop ourselves spiritually.
Each family has its own plot of land and we have a common territory – our permaculture center. We organize courses and workshops several times a year.
There is a very comfortable house for tourists in the ecovillage where you can have rest and see the traditional Ukrainian way of life.
We have good experience with international volunteers.

Those who want to become our neighbors will find on our site a list of our life principles. We will be glad to meet people to whom these principles are close. Please note that we accept families who are ready for permanent residence in the settlement, rather than looking for a holiday option.
We ask you to be sympathetic to the fact that we can not accept guests at any time and come only by invitation.

Hello,
I am a 37yo Australian male born in the country and have a bamboo farm. I am interested in learning different methods of organic and permaculture activities and projects. I have learned about soils and their importance in a changing world.
I am going to Kyiv to run in the marathon and will be in Ukraine for another few days afterwards.
I would like to visit and see if I can learn anything from you all there and help volunteer. I only speak English and would prefer to stay just one night, Friday 11th October. I would like to arrive by bus that day and leave the following day.
I can help with general duties too and I learn fast.
If this sounds suitable then please email reply, otherwise I understand if you don’t wish for visitors often too, (I read that above in the description).
Thanks,
Mark
