The Garden is an off-grid, alternative, leaderless (leaderfull) community on a 21.3 acres of earth in Lafayette, Tennessee; hosting a constantly evolving and fluctuating group of about 10-60 people throughout the year. Individuals on the land have practiced sustainable earth stewardship for over twelve years, creating multiple acres of active farm lands, highly functional off grid water and electric systems, a chicken coop that currently houses 38 chickens, 10 storage/living structures, and a vibrant culture of education. It is a place to sprout, bloom, and grow in harmony with nature- where one can take responsibility for their impact on the Earth, and live in a wholesome way, while helping and giving to others.
Our Mission Statement
To provide land to individuals, families, and travelers to learn, teach, and experience a variety of sustainable and self-sufficient living skills.
To be a place where those who want to help others can themselves prosper through profit share in a community that provides a more wholesome and earth friendly alternative lifestyle.
To encourage and assist in the application of these skills and ideas in our surrounding communities and among our neighbors.
To establish a network of these similar like minded communities across the United States and beyond which function as way stations for travelers as well as hubs of learning and empowerment for a sustainable future.
To be family- friendly while adhering to a positive work ethic that acknowledges the value of our neighbors and our community as a whole.
To be as inclusive, fair, and efficient as possible while keeping a productive pace.
To hold ourselves to a high standard therefore setting a good example.

Hello, my name is Sunnie Ray and I would love to come out and see your community and possibly join it. I am selling my home located in Nashville Tennessee and I no longer want to be a part of this sort of society. I would love to learn more about your practices and see if I would be a good fit. I work in tech from home. I am 25 years old and I enjoy yoga, meditation and sustainable practices. I will admit I could learn a whole lot more and I’m open to that
