About the Solutions

Overview

EASTE seeks to inspire, train and engage young people into sustainable agriculture through local awareness workshops, capacity building, and youth exchange networks and Hands on Practice on organic farming techniques in an attempt to fight hunger, unemployment, poverty and climate change in Cameroon for a healthier living.

Our three (3) year vision is to create the next generation of 100 youths motivated and engaged into sustainable agriculture through an “organic Farm incubation center”.

EASTE has as objectives to provide:

  1. Food security and to build healthy communities:

Reintroducing and promoting organic farming through the production, multiplication and distribution of organic nursery plants to fifty (50) youth farmers within the scope of the project as a strategy for environmental conservation and hunger alleviation.

  1. Reduce unemployment:

Investing in and establishing four (4) low-cost agricultural systems (which include: processing of, Cassava, Ginger, Pepper and Garlics) that add value to its farm produce in our center as a means of creating more opportunities for the youths, hence community development.

  1. Alleviate poverty:

Develop the youths to using entrepreneurship and innovation as mechanisms to achieve social impact and employing other people with limited skill sets who would otherwise face challenges in the mainstream labor market to improve the economic and social realities of the communities.

EASTE will create more support opportunities for the youths, youth farmers and the community, address challenges faced by young people in agriculture and the environment, and create trusts and partnerships for regular transformation of agriculture activities throughout the country. Through its strategy to distribute organic nursery plants to local youth farmers and the practical implementation in the center, more awareness and efforts will be enforced on the protection of environment and nature.

The Result
We are still at an early stage of development, but will measure our impact using the following metrics
Number of youths that will be integrated into agriculture through the NASLA Network that will be created under this project
Number of jobs openings that will be created in the “Organic farm incubation Center”
Feedbacks and evaluation reports from participants that will attend our awareness and capacity building workshops
Increase quality and quantity of organic farm produce in the local market by 10%
Our impact will be strengthen by the creation of More than three Resourceful partnerships for support: (International and local Partners)

The challenge

Food insecurity, unemployment, environmental degradation and poverty, have become measure problems which threaten the security and social well being of many youths in Africa.
