Regenerative organic agriculture remove the carbon from the atmosphere and oceans by sequestering it into the soil. It creates humus, made up of the stable, long-lasting remnants of decaying organic material, which expands the soil’s water-holding capacity and improves the fertility of the soil and our ability to grow nutrient-rich crops.
Everything is connected. As our activities increase the carbon level and the acidity of the ocean, it also tends to reduce the plankton which is the source of up to 1/3 of the oxygen that we inhale… Through the past hundred years, by clearing rainforests, degrading farmland, denuding pasturelands, and burning carbon-rich matter for fuel, we’ve disturbed the balance in the „carbon triad“, the 3 carbon sinks: the atmosphere, the ocean and the humus-sphere.
