Daniel Waterman

Zonca Ecovillage Italy

I am 56 years old and live in the Netherlands. I acquired a house in Zonca in 2017 by means of crowdfunding. I have been involved in the village for over 20 years. My initial aim was to look for a community that I could contribute to in a meaningful way. I am especially interested in strengthening networks of solidarity and in promoting the type of people skills needed to transform the planet. I see membership in a community as a means of improving my own skills as well as to connect to others.

Zonca is a village in the Italian Alps near Villadossola. It has ±20-30 permanent and occasional residents, most of whom come from Switzerland, Germany and Holland. The village is closely allied to the Buddhist community of Bordo. Some residents practice permaculture, others care for goats and are in the Alps during the summer. The population is growing but houses are in serious disrepair and there is a constant need for help with rebuilding collapsed walls and roofs. The village is in the middle of a national nature reserve and is surrounded by dense chestnut forrest. It has ample space for volunteers. It has a website: https://zonca.info

Primary interests: Social (Health & Healing, Lifelong Education, Leadership & Governance); Culture (Art & Celebration, Wisdom & Innovation, Vision & Purpose)
