Welcome to the Donuimun Eco-Village Common House, a place to share and learn, rest and play, in the heart of Seoul’s most appealing new neighbourhood. This project interprets the inaugural Seoul Biennale of Architecture & Urbanism theme, Imminent Commons, as a call to practical and collective action. We take the public occasion of the Biennale to imagine—at once playfully and seriously—that after the exhibition closes, this cultural zone might be retrofitted to become a new eco-village for Seoul (inspired by the Los Angeles Eco-Village). The resulting community would reuse these buildings to house its residents equitably, incubate enterprises of right livelihood, and enhance the ecological and sociable values of the spaces it shares with its neighbours and visitors. In the spirit of the Recycling Common, our exhibition at 35-40 Saemunan-ro contains a Give and Take shelf, where Biennale visitors are invited to donate and adopt pre-loved household items, from utensils to clothing to plants. Many Biennale visitors have already been taking items home, and we also encourage people to bring clean, working items to share with others. Items can simply be placed on the designated shelves within the exhibition. Evolutionary change needs new leadership qualities. The zeitgeist is a calling for a transformation of fear-based behaviour into participatory action with co-empowerment, transparency, connection and flow. Social competencies and leadership qualities necessary for this transition are made up of two ingredients: the ability to benefit from conflict and the ability to create cooperation. Empathic Communication is a key skill enabling leaders to enter into new forms of contact with themselves, with people around them and with their environment. It includes deeper listening and empathy to connect us with the context in which we act and it supports integrative growth. In this training course we will offer a basic introduction into the community building process of ZEGG Forum. Forum is a ritualized form of transparent communication to create trust and clarity in groups. In addition to this participants experience other approaches to connected communication such as non-violent and intercultural communication, deep ecology and possibility management. We want to explore a) how to get into deeper contact with ourselves and b) different methods of collective intelligence in order to enter new ways of empathic leadership and achieve higher quality in our life. Aim: To develop participants’ qualities of empathic leadership and to deepen their competencies in interpersonal communication in order to create an enriching learning environment and a higher quality of projects in cooperation with different involved actors. We recognize the importance of effective interpersonal relationships and also the relationship of the individual to him/herself . Usually the focus of the PDC is to strengthen the ecosystem. From there, the pattern is transferred to other systems such as the social, the monetary system, the educational system, etc. By designing the People Care PDC we have developed a workshop in which we put the development of sustainable social systems at the center. People Care PDC is devoted to the social demands of our time and offers practical impetus to dealing with interpersonal challenges both in the private and professional environment. These includes conflict resolution, decision-making processes, organic planning and development processes, etc. The course offers useful tools of permaculture design in theory and practice and connects them with adjacent systems and methods . En este curso aprenderás cómo construir tu propio invernadero con caña de una forma sencilla. Durante 3 días trabajaremos en equipo, aprenderemos diferentes técnicas de estructuras con caña y los beneficios de la reutilización de materiales. Experimentaremos las distintas fases de construcción y conoceremos los aspectos y detalles del proceso: – Herramientas y materiales – La caña: selección, recolección, preparación y usos. – El terreno: Elección, preparación y marcado. – Preparar columnas para los arcos para la estructura. – Preparar los arcos – Materiales de protección sobre los arcos. – Puertas – Colocar el plástico. Al final del curso habrás conseguido los conocimientos y las habilidades necesarias para construir tu propio invernadero donde y para quien quieras con un coste muy reducido en los materiales y de forma sencilla. We had to wait 2021, against all odds, to see the very first French EDE. How come it was only the 1st? Why never before? Well, we know why. FHF. This is why making an EDE in France was a tough challenge to take on. And yes, we did it! The group of participants we had for this EDE was so diverse that no clan emerged. It is quite usual that people gather by affinity in small groups but here, the entire group stuck together no matter what. The glue was really strong. Some personalities were more extraverted of course, but with a real care for other’s presence and voice. To the extent to become a real counter-power: if we made any facilitation mistake, if we failed to propose in the most careful way and if it felt like we were imposing anything, we would be immediately in trouble. We knew it came from a childhood school trauma for these people, who were very open about it. It was an amazing journey to navigate the facilitation process with such awareness. This context led to something incredible during week two: a very quiet voice, Pauline, protested against the fact that they had agreed to community agreements on the first day but now, she said, they had to review them by themselves and check if it reflects who they really are. We, as EDE crew members, opened a space in the program for them to take the time to do it. They used Sociometry, a tool taught to them before, to assess the agreements. They counted in percentage who agreed or not for each topic. They even discussed about the structure of the program and finally approved it. It was a very beautiful real-life example of self-empowerment. One of the most iconic moment of this EDE was the Derdian roleplay in which they completely immersed themselves for three hours. The participants playing the indigenous Derdians went in the forest and created another set of social rules to add to the existing 10 social rules, making it even harder for the engineers to understand them. Dance with Gaia: Process Your Community will focus on the wisdom of Arnold Mindell, the founder of Process Work or Process-oriented psychology. Process Work uses awareness to track psychological and physical processes that illuminate and possibly resolve inner, relationship, community and world issues. To track and follow the processes mean to follow the nature, by following the visible and subtle signals coming from people and events. This means respecting individuals, groups, and the environment, exploring reality and also the dream and essence levels of events. By doing this we often gain more understanding and get surprising temporary solutions as well. The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) in collaboration with the Findhorn Foundation will host a dialogue circle in the spirit of a Talanoa Dialogue to consider how communities and ecovillages answer the questions Where are we? Where do we want to go? How do we get there? in the face of climate change. Talanoa is a traditional word used in Fiji and across the Pacific to reflect a process of inclusive, participatory and transparent dialogue. The purpose of Talanoa is to share stories, build empathy and to make wise decisions for the collective good. The process of Talanoa involves the sharing of ideas, skills and experience through storytelling.
