Nuestra Finca Sagrada (Our Sacred Farm), located in the rural state of Carazo near Jinotepe. Nicaraguan countryside about 25 minutes from Jinotepe. The nearest town is La Paz de Carazo 5 minutes away. We are NOT on the gringo trail, this is a bit rural and for someone who wants to practice Spanish and meet local Nicaraguans.
We welcome every soul who has made the conscious choice to leave Babylon, this society & system which no longer serves us. We work for a system change by creating a new way of living in which is approached through earth care, people care & a fair share for those communities surrounding the farm.
Our aim is to develop the land in an eco-conscious way, using permaculture techniques, natural buildings, growing sustainably while also being respectful of the local culture and tradition. We have recently installed WIFI & electricity to create a self-reliant communication hub here.
The farm boasts many mango, cashew, lime, and guanábana trees, and was part of a reforestation project so there are a variety of tree species and age ranges. We have recently planted watermelon, dragon fruit, avocado, mandarin, and grenadilla.
Our Sacred Farm is also visited by a large variety of birds and butterflies, as well as a few families of howler monkeys.
Lodging on the farm is pretty basic and rustic, though we do have a large pagoda-style building designed and built by Sunray Kelley. It’s still a work in progress but will serve as the communal area and kitchen, as well as a yoga space. We also have a more conventional building made from concrete that serves as a caretaker and guesthouse storage space. We have a treehouse and outdoor kitchen with a grill and oven, cob table and bench.
At the moment our long term plan is to create a food forest & communal housing, we’re focusing on short term projects like planting more fruit trees and more compost toilets. We have plans to build a cob structure and a platform/treehouse above our water tower.
