Community Values
SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE AND ABUNDANCE
Moving toward a more sustainable lifestyle; we share many
resources such as childcare, tools, and expertise. We recycle,
repair, reuse, and practice patterns of cooperative living together.
We live out of a sense of abundance and therefore approach
community with the understanding that getting enough is more
important than “counting beans” to ensure exact equality.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY AND CONTRIBUTION
Creativity and engagement emerges in community from the
individual passion of members. For community to work well, each
of us adds our life skills and experience to the mix. We choose
how and to what degree we contribute and events take place
daily that beckon us to be an integral part of community.
LIFELONG LEARNING
Living together as a interactive, multi-generational community allows and encourages
us to continue learning from each other daily. When any of our values become threadbare, we look for ways of reweaving our practices.
WELCOMING DIVERSITY’S
We respect and celebrate each life within our community and those whose paths brings
them to our doors, honoring people for who they are.
HONORING INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY LIFE
Balancing the many dimensions of our lives is a major challenge. For the continued
well-being and growth of the community as a whole, we understand the importance of
gathering, the need for solitude and reflection as individuals, and family time.
SUPPORTING SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT
Coming from various backgrounds, we have a wide range spiritual beliefs and patterns
in our lives (including those who don’t adhere to any practice). As a community we try
to encourage and assist each other in pursuing our individual life paths.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
We are part of a larger neighborhood and global network, participating as individual,
small groups or as community in various ways

Housing Opportunities at Songaia:
We occasionally have rentals available. The best way to get one of these rental units is to get to know us, since often these arrangements occur directly with owners. However, you may also want to sign up for our Housing, Rentals, and Investing email list.
Visit:
If you are interested in our community, this is probably your first step. Please sign up for the "Community Tour Announcements" email list on our webpage to be notified of our tours. If you are from out of town and are here during a tour weekend, we can sometimes provide accommodations. In that case, please email us directly ([email protected]).
Associate Membership:
Are you interested in joining Songaians for meals and events? Ready to get your hands dirty in our permaculture garden, or cook with us? Associates are people who don’t live on site, but are still officially connected to our community.
Volunteering and Internships:
We have an active garden and meals program. Some people are interested in learning through volunteering, and we have also hosted official interns. Email the Garden Steward ([email protected]) for more information.

My name is Kathleen Kim.
I am very much interested in the permaculture community living and would like to tour your neighbor and learn about it. I am currently live in Bothell and very flexible with appointment hours.
Happy New Year!
