Qian Gu Shan is a small village in a valley. She has about 500 people but only more than 100 people still live there, and mainly old people over 60 years. Young people are working in cities around and also their children have education there.
There are around 80 empty private courtyard houses and a big public courtyard in the village. A lot of fields are barren.
The village is poor and polluted by pesticide and fertilizer. Local people want to change but have no idea. We came here to talk with them about ecovillage, the way to approach healthy and sustainable life. They agreed.
We organized some activities to involve new villagers and local villagers together to build their own and public ecovillage.
Now we are renovating the public canteen with the bed and breakfast, to attract new villagers to join working and living here.
In the future we wish to build this ecovillage to be an example in north China. And cultivate more ecovillages in China and other places.
