Sol și Suflet is a project created by the Romanian Institute of Permaculture with the support of Kaufland Romania in 2020 and it’s based at the foot to the Subcarpathian hills, in the southern part of the country.
Our land is covering 6 hectares at the edge of a large forest and all of it is currently used for the production of vegetables in an organic regenerative system, hosting as well a residential and educational center for farm workers, volunteers and visitors.
The model we employ for our market garden is the community supported agriculture (CSA) and our production capacity is for about 300 families. We are delivering our fresh vegetables weekely to Bucharest, the capital and two other cities.
In the same time, we are researching new ways of growing organic vegetables, improving the quality of the soil and expanding the model of community supported market garden. We are educating young people who want to become farmers in extensive internship programs and we are year-round hosting volunteers from all over the world who are interested in knowing more about working with the land and producing their own food in a nature and climate positive way.
Sol și Suflet is a community of resident farm employees, interns and short to long term volunteers, numbering from 7 to 20 people, all involved in operating the farm processes.
Our mission is to perfect a model of small scale regenerative farm, educate farm managers and expand this system across the country as an alternative to the conventional horticultural practices, offering better quality food, cleaner soils and water bodies, more natural diversity and a better livelihood for farmers.
People waiting to join our community should have a strong interest and commitment to learn and become farmers, to be passionate about plants and wildlife, have experience with living outdoors and have a high level of self reliance. We value communication, building and repairing, cooking as well as scientific research skills.
Someone interested in joining our community is invited to do volunteering at the farm or better an internship to find out if this activity and setting is suitable for them.
