What we do

Tamera is a peace project in Southern Portugal, a cooperative of future workers, who aim to build a so called “Healing Biotope” for a couple of hundred people – a community between humans, animals and plants whose relationships are based upon trust and mutual support.
In a Healing Biotope new answers in the existential areas of life shall be researched: peace and cooperation with nature, peace between men and women, implementation of a strong self-sufficient community of compassion without guru and peer pressure, practice of free religion by authentic religious
experiences and an ongoing spiritual life practice.
Tamera was founded in 1995 and is a snapshot of over 40 years of research and development. It is a living model, a pioneer project for the question of humankind living together on this planet.
Currently, there are 150 staff members who live in Tamera; the circle of people co-operating encompasses some hundred more. Many who work here are committed guests who want to help continue the project.
There are no religious or ideological obligations. However, there is a common direction, giving the place its spiritual character. Joy in implementing and joy in new thinking, respect for all life, participating in all of creation, solidarity with all of its beings, honesty in relationships, truth in love, and transparency in the
community.
Practical activities in the project take place in the „Escola da Esperança” schooling project, youth projects, horse projects, gardening, energy supply, soil improvement, architecture, and landscaping. Aside from this, we mainly work in theoretical and social fields on the question of the implementation of a non-
violent culture on this planet.
The best way to get to know our work and goals is to take part in our seminars, courses – online or at site and our work and community programm. Our guest season lasts from March to November.

Hi! I’m Eva, and I run social media for GEN International — the global network connecting ecovillages, intentional communities, and regenerative culture-builders across every continent. I’m looking for a co-conspirator to help me tell the stories of the people quietly building the future: off-grid villages in the Philippines, permaculture farms in Senegal, urban cohousing projects in Berlin, elders passing down land wisdom in the Andes. It’s a wildly rich, wildly underrepresented world, and I want more people to fall in love with it the way I have. What you’ll actually do: Dream up and create content for Instagram and LinkedIn (reels, carousels, stories, captions that don’t sound like a corporate newsletter) Dig into our global network and turn your findings into stories people want to share Pitch your own ideas. If there’s a series, a theme, a format, or a corner of the network that lights you up, that’s what I want you to focus on. What we’re looking for: A natural storyteller, someone who can spot the human thread in a project update or a photo from a faraway village Genuinely curious about ecovillages, sustainability, intentional community, regenerative living Self-motivated and communicative; this is a flexible, trust-based role Why this role: This isn’t a “post 3x a week and don’t ask questions” internship. You’ll have real creative freedom to work on what excites you, learn how a global grassroots network tells its story, and build a portfolio full of meaningful, purpose-driven content. After we procure those seeds, we put them on a cycle. We organized “Seed Exchange Days”, where people could meet and exchange their seeds, their knowledge and experiences. We tried to take it one step further and we are trying to categorize the seeds. For example, -there is a bean seed. But which type of bean seed is it? Or we try to categorize the seeds according to their durabilty in which city they could grow. We believe that all the seeds in the World are people’s seeds and we want to share them with everyone.
