What we do

The SING community is a vibrant, intergenerational settlement nestled along the White Volta Basin in the Kumbungu District of Northern Ghana. Rooted in traditional Dagomba culture and guided by the values of unity, mutual aid, and respect for nature, SING has long embraced communal living and sustainable farming practices. However, over the past decades, the region has experienced increasing environmental stress land degradation, erratic rainfall, youth unemployment, and a decline in traditional livelihoods.
In response to these challenges, our community, supported by United Force for Development International (UF4D), came together to form the UF4D GreenLab an ambitious initiative to create a regenerative ecovillage that not only restores the land but also empowers people. Our journey began with local youth groups, elders, and women’s cooperatives working side-by-side to envision a future where sustainability, dignity, and innovation could thrive hand-in-hand.
We are united by shared principles of ecological responsibility, local empowerment, participatory governance, and circular economy thinking. Our goal is to transition from linear, extractive models to circular, regenerative systems that honor both people and planet. Together, we are building a living laboratory—a place to prototype sustainable farming, green technologies, eco-housing, and community-owned enterprises.
We aspire to become a beacon of possibility for Northern Ghana and beyond: a place where climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, waste-to-resource innovation, and cultural resilience come together to shape a new rural narrative—one led by communities, for communities.

After we procure those seeds, we put them on a cycle. We organized “Seed Exchange Days”, where people could meet and exchange their seeds, their knowledge and experiences. We tried to take it one step further and we are trying to categorize the seeds. For example, -there is a bean seed. But which type of bean seed is it? Or we try to categorize the seeds according to their durabilty in which city they could grow. We believe that all the seeds in the World are people’s seeds and we want to share them with everyone.
