Windekind Commons Vermont Cohousing

Windekind Commons Vermont Cohousing is 150+ acre suburban/semi-rural community of 9 homes (5 built/occupied, 3 under construction, 1 remaining homesite for sale as of Oct 2025) located near Richmond, VT about 40 minutes from Burlington in lovely Huntington, Vermont.
In addition to the land making up the homesites, Windekind Commons Vermont Cohousing members co-own approximately 130 acres of land, including a 13 acre meadow, common spaces, and an expanse of woodlands that includes Norway Spruce (planted as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps efforts), sugar maple, red maple, white ash, beech, Eastern hemlock, red spruce, yellow birch, paper birch, and other northern hardwoods. Our land also includes a system of trails that is used for walking in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter as part of the Camels Hump Nordic Ski Association trail system. We are on a south facing bowl which is great for extending the growing season in this climate. There are 2 ponds on the property and two streams that run through.
Property currently for sale (as of Oct 2025):
Last remaining homesite at Windekind Commons Vermont Cohousing, where 5 homes are occupied and 3 under construction. This is the largest lot in the community, near Richmond, VT (Huntington)—about 40 minutes from both Burlington and Montpelier. Our family purchased it in 2021 to build our home but moved farther away, so we’re seeking new owners to join this beloved community.
This 2.72-acre, build-ready, ski-in/ski-out lot sits on a cul-de-sac beside a 10-acre meadow within 130+ acres of shared land featuring hiking trails, gardens, a pond, ski trails, waterfalls, and access to Camel’s Hump Nordic and State Forest. Drive in over a hand-built stone bridge, enjoy southeastern exposure, sugar maples, wildlife, and peace. Shared stewardship is central here—close to schools, amenities, and top ski resorts including Stowe and Smugglers’ Notch.
