A. Adler

(Alejandra) Liora Adler, is an ecosocial community actionist, facilitator, event organizer, photographer and dancer. Raised in the era of the 1960’s social movements in the USA, she came to understand that protest alone was inadequate for making substantive societal changes. Consequently, throughout the 1970’s and 80’s she explored intentional community as a means to create a basis for culture that provides both for physical needs and the basic human need to belong to an intimate, purposeful community. She has shared her experience and knowledge in 30 countries, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN), a representative to the UN, and as a co-founder of two ecovillage projects in Latin America, Huehuecoyotl Ecovillage in Mexico and La Caravana Arcoiris por la Paz, a mobile project which traveled throughout Latin America for 13 years activating ecosocial and community movements. With Andrew Langford. she co-founded Gaia University, now in its 14th year. She currently lives in the Capay Valley in CA, USA (as well as part-time in Huehuecoyotl ecovillage). She and her husband serve on the Board of the Global Village Institute and she also serves on the Boards of PINA (Permaculture Institute of North America) and the GEN-US Council. She has been a GEN Elder since 2015.
