THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE: June 10-August 20, 2022 This transformational 10-week Permaculture Design Course / Intentional Community Immersion offers students an opportunity to integrate with natural rhythms of the land and experience the beauty, complexities, and intimacy of communal life within our 33 year old Intentional Community in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains The Holistic Sustainability Semester features internationally renowned teachers in five spheres of sustainability — Personal, Social, Ecological, Economic, and Worldview. We weave experiential learning, indigenous teachings, and deep nature immersion practices into the HSS. Immerse yourself in our Ecovillage and our 87-acre campus of oak savanna, camas meadow, permaculture gardens, woodland streams, and regenerating forest. MORE THAN A PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE IN AN INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY Over these 10 weeks, students will integrate into our community, Meadowsong Ecovillage, and develop an understanding of the systems of governance and decision making (sociocracy) that we use. Students will learn communication skills in a safe and nurturing environment that allow for new growth, expression, and deeper relationships. Working with the land in our ongoing restoration projects, informed by indigenous practices and guidance, students will develop an understanding of how one can integrate into the ecosystem and the more-than-human world. 23 September – 4 October (11 days, 72 hours certificate) Led by Dr. Rod Everett and Mill Millichap We are excited to announce the first FULL PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE (PDC) that will be hosted in Tinos Eco-lodge with two knowledgeable teachers and lifelong farmers from England, Dr. Rod Everett and his colleague Mill Millichap who are teaching permaculture since 1990 in various parts of the world and are coming to Greece and spreading the permaculture philosophy and way of life for the last 5 years. This PDC is fully certified by the Permaculture Association (Britain). The Permaculture Design Certificate is a 72 hour theoretical course based on Bill Mollison’s Designers Manual, teaching how we can use today’s tools and technology to create a more sustainable world. Permaculture is not only about growing vegetables and animals, it is a whole sustainable lifestyle. Permaculture ethics are Earth Care, People Care and Return of Surplus and this is taught by showing students to focus on local resources and their local community, and to have well thought out design practices to create abundance sustainably. Anyone who wants to bring a big change in his life and way of thinking is welcome to participate, there is no need of previous knowledge of the subject. At the Tinos Ecolodge you will have the opportunity to see stone built houses with local materials, an off-grid system for energy production for the whole lodge which is powered by solar panels, collection of rain water system, reedbed filtration sewage system, indoor compost toilets with the Aquatron separation system, outdoor compost toilets, outdoor kitchen and shower filtration systems and a lot more to be built and learned during the seminar. Teachers Rod has gained his teaching certificate in 1990 with Lea Harrison who ran a teacher training course and advanced design course in his farm in 1990. Awakening Leadership Training is a 6 month empowerment training based in Thailand that weaves inner transformation and societal understanding with techniques for community building and effective mindful leadership. It provides space for dialogue, reflection and contemplation on the deep questions facing humanity and our planet. It will help you to take new steps with increased confidence, broadened perspective, and enhanced social change skills. You can join for one week, or the full 6 month course, engaging in the learning process that emphasises inner cultivation as a foundation for fostering new paradigm leadership. About This program is developed in partnership with Gaia Education, and is offering a pioneering Advanced Ecovillage Design Education certification. The learning journey integrates and deepens exploration of four dimensions of sustainability: social, economic, worldview and ecological, as well as incorporating a fifth dimension on Skillful Means for Social Transformation. The program is based at Wongsanit Ashram (near Bangkok) eco-community, and we will take journeys to live and learn with indigenous, grassroot and intentional communities across Thailand, explore and experiment with community building and self governance, and participate in the co-creation of knowledge together.
