Officially recognised under the name ‘Ma Foret’ in December 2005 , we are an NGO fighting against global deforestation, particularly in the Ivory Coast, Africa. In 2007, the NGO joined the ‘Terre des Jeunes’ network comprised of the following countries: Canada, Haïti, France, Togo,Benin, Cameroun, Niger, Burkina Faso, Burundi and the Ivory Coast, and adopted the name of the network.
In 2015, Togo hosted the first summit inviting all the ‘Terre des Jeunes’ representatives from around the world to reflect and discuss our joint future, and to coordinate the activities carried out in respective countries. The summit also served as an opportunity to celebrate 30 years of ‘Terre des Jeunes Transnational’- a project of great proportions.
At the global ‘Terre des Jeunes’ summit in 2020, an even bigger project awaits both the network’s members and attendees: the construction of an ecovillage. This will aim to demonstrate that it is possible to construct, cultivate and to live in a ‘model forest’ in ways that are respectful of, and optimal for, the environment.
