La Bolina is a collective of people from Europe, West Africa, South America and the Middle East who live together in a rural village in Valle de Lecrin, Granada, Spain. We have diverse identities, legal statutes and professions. What brings us together is a shared vision around integration, sustainability and regeneration.
La Bolina have developed a systemic change model designed by young locals and migrants supporting a regenerative revolution in rural communities by connecting, educating and empowering young locals and migrants to create sustainable ‘collective-enterprising’ using local social and solidarity economy.
We run trainings in permaculture, agroecology and commercialisation, internships and are supporting locals, refugees and migrants to set up sustainable collective-enterprises benefiting the local economy; including Productos de La Bolina - a veg box scheme, moringa, conserves, olive oils and training programmes. We also sell our produce in shop, hotels and enterprises in Granada and beyond.
In 2017 we won the LUSH Spring Prize Award, became an association and moved into our project base in Valle de Lecrin, Granada, Spain. In 2018 we were semi-finalists of European Social Innovation Competition RE:THINKING LOCAL and won a grant from the European Union project Make Europe Sustainable for All to create Refugee Week Granada to celebrate the lives of refugees and migrants. La Bolina ran 12 activities, workshops and a cross-sector symposium on SDG 10 Fighting Inequalities.
