Und damit ein Update von e(ä)lterlicher Begleitung entwickeln: sowohl jenseits des autoritären Paradigma von (subtilem) Liebesentzug, Druck oder Beschämung als auch jenseits von Laissezfaire und Grenzenlosigkeit. Dieses innere Erwachsenwerden ist aber kein rein individueller Prozess, sondern findet auf der gesellschaftlich kulturellen Ebene statt. The Global Eco-village network (GEN) and GEN Africa initiated the first Eco-village Design Education (EDE) course in South Africa at Lynedoch Eco-village in Stellenbosch, approximately 50km outside Cape Town. 25 Participants coming from varying African countries and abroad gathered at Lynedoch Eco-village in Stellenbosch to witness and take part in the first Eco-village Design Education course held in South Africa. A mixed group of people passionately seeking to (re) connect to other people and find ways to live more sustainably with the earth. The course was funded by Heidehof Stiftung and Lush Cosmetics. Lua Bashala-Kekana, Lucky Kekana and Kosha Anja Joubert have worked passionately over the past couple years to bring the course into being. In spite of some unexpected knocks (including a last minute venue change) the course proceeded remarkably smoothly and brought together a unique, diverse and micro-cosmic group of people from over 8 countries and four continents. Lua Bashala-Kekana, Lucky Kekana and Paola Vidulich facilitated the course. Guest Trainers included Kosha Anja Joubert; Ninnette Eliasov; Paulo Mellett; Gillian Wilton; Judy Bekker and Mthunzi Funo. Connecting The course started with the Social Dimension which helped to connect and bring bonding to the group and also awaken deep rooted reactions and emotions. The opening evening gave everyone an opportunity to meet and exchange expectations. GEN was introduced on the first day as well as Gaia Education. The group got to know each other over the next few days which brought bonding but also surfaced sensitivities of race, class and gender inequality through continued injustice in South Africa. The group explored: collective wisdom; community building; rank awareness and visioning considering GEN South Africa as part of a collective Dragon Dreaming exercise. ‘Eco Village Design Education’ conducted at Siddharth Village, Odisha, India is a transforming experience. The course is designed with EDE mandala as base, integrating the ‘World view’, ‘Social’, ‘Economic’ and ‘Ecology’ dimensions. ‘World view’ and ‘Social’ dimensions are process oriented. They set a stage for questioning long held perspectives about life, oneself and the world around. This in turn may lead to experiencing changes ‘here and now’. Relaxation and meditation techniques, exercises to manifest desires and so on, facilitate participants to experience the incredible connection between mind and matter/body, mind and energy systems. All this happens in an appropriate and relaxed pace. Conflict transformation in social dimension is learnt in experiential. Participants will have an opportunity to live in an ecovillage of indegenous people and imbibe their wisdom. Permaculture in ecology dimension of the course integrated with above mentioned dimensions is highly practical, equipping one with the knowledge, skill and appropriate attitude. Nissi Christian Academy is a nonprofit organization, found in Kisui Village along the shore of Lake Victoria where fishing activity is the key economic activities besides peasant farming and micro business activities. For along time children rights have been violated and many children are subjected to different form of child labour, early marriage, rape and defilement beatings and all frustrations. Many children are left orphans and vulnerable due to HIV/AIDS , insecurity (ethnicity division and classes) and other forms of illness attributed to poor and inadequate health facilities around.
