Gaia Ashram in the North-East of Thailand is organizing a two weeks Permaculture Design Certification (PDC) course. The 9th version of Call of the Mountain, will be held at the Misak University in the territory of indigenous Guambía Misak , 15 minutes from Silvia, Cauca. The Misak University was founded in 2010 and is an institution of native intensive classroom training and distance mode with integrated processes in the implementation of own knowledge and generate new knowledge and skills for survival. The Call of the Mountain is a meeting that was convened for the first time in 2006 by the Colombian Ecovillage Network (REBORN) and today is called by CASA Colombia (Council of Sustainable Settlements of the Americas). The Call of the Mountain gathers hundreds of people; ecovillagers, professionals, representatives and members of social movements, farming communities and indigenous groups, as well as scientists, philosophers, educators, social innovators, entrepreneurs and experts on world view. Ecovillages sind gelebte, partizipatorisch entwickelte, dezentrale Modelle für eine nachhaltige Lebensweise und für die Erprobung und Entwicklung eines umweltschonenenden Lebensstils. Durch die synergetische Wirkung von lokaler Kooperation und Partizipation auf den Ebenen Ökologie, Ökonomie, Gemeinschaft und persönlicher Entwicklung/Weltsicht sind im deutschsprachigen Raum über 30 Ecovillages im gelebten Experiment als Entwürfe und Modelle für eine nachhaltige Lebensweise entstanden. Der Bedarf, die dort entwickelten Kenntnisse auch für andere Lebensentwürfe zugänglich zu machen und auch in den urbanen Lebensraum hinein zu tragen, um auch hier Antworten auf die Fragen unserer Zeit in konkretes Alltagsleben integrieren zu können, wird dabei immer größer. The ReGEN-Nations program is a 6-month online learning journey and prototyping lab using whole systems thinking to design solutions for social, cultural, economic, and ecological resilience and regeneration, designed by the GENOA Projects team. The program is based on the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) curriculum and certified by Gaia Education and UNESCO. The prototype began in September 2020 and welcomed 16 teams from around Asia and the Pacific, with 11 countries represented, Australia, Japan, India, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Each team joined with two lead members and several supporting members. They started with a project in either ideation or scaling stage and applied the learning from this program to develop and deepen their project design. The program offered a wide range of online sessions from check-in calls, to leadership, mentorship, and coaching sessions, to workshops and webinars on the areas of regeneration of ecovillage design. In addition to the cohort of 16 teams, the program ReGEN Nations reached over 120 participants through its open webinars and workshops in each dimension. Through the ReGEN Nations program, GENOA was able to also engage a network of thought leaders, trainers, activists, ecovillages and kindred spirit organisations from the region.
