What we do

We are a multigenerational group, thriving in mutual respect and support. We are co-learning and implementing permaculture living approaches to build an off-grid sustainable community.
We’re currently developing living space for a few households in southern BC, Canada. We have been meeting, envisioning, and planning for the last year. Through consensus, we have formulated our mission, vision, values, needs, and community guidelines.
All our decisions and solutions will revolve around prioritizing these values for our overall community project.
Our Community Values:

  • Community: We value strong interpersonal connections and actively contribute to the well-being of our neighbors and the whole community.
  • Sustainability: We prioritize eco-friendly permacultural practices to live with nature and lessen our carbon footprint. We live and thrive using off-grid environmental power resources.
  • Inclusion: We create an atmosphere of respect for diversity, individuality, autonomy, inclusiveness, privacy, and shared spaces.
  • Cooperation: Collaboration, consensus, work sharing, and mutual support are the cornerstones of our community.
  • Wellness: We strive to empower individuals to explore their physical, mental, and emotional well-being needs within a supportive network, encouraging personal growth and fulfillment.

Mission
Our Mission is to create a close-knit rural community where shared values and collaborative efforts result in a thriving and sustainable living experience. We do this by respecting the uniqueness of each individual, and by taking responsibility for ourselves, our community, and our environment. We celebrate our connections with each other and the richness of our diversity.
Vision
To create a sustainable and inclusive rural community that fosters connection and harmony with nature and each other. We envision a community of individuals committed to permaculture stewardship, homesteading sustainable practices, and mutual support for each member in their life journey.

How to join

To join the Wandering Coyote Community please follow these steps:
The first step would be to contact us. We can interact by email, through social media messages, or by phone. This gives you a chance to ask your questions and hear the story of how we started and who lives here. We encourage everyone to read through our website and the FAQs page to learn more.
The next step would be to tour the community property to see if it is what you expected and a good fit for you. You ask more questions and we do our best to provide clear and complete answers. You also join us for a community meal, a work party, or an event so we can get to know each other more. After some events, you dive deeper into exploring the community and come to some community planning meetings. You start to get the scoop on life in an intentional community and how we work at resolving conflicts and making decisions together.
Once you have gone through the steps above and you’ve decided to become a member and lease a lot we will go over all of our community agreements for you to sign (pet policy, consensus decision-making, all of our policies and procedures, criminal record checks, and agreements).
Lastly, it’s time to sign your lease and make your deposit to secure your lot! You meet with our board of directors to review and sign legal agreements.
Once your paperwork is signed and we have received your deposit we introduce you at a community meeting as a new member and celebrate our new neighbors–You!
