The Ecovillage Resilience Podcast, one of the outputs of the Ecovillage Resilience +2.5 project, is nearly ready to share! We look forward to taking you on a trip around the world, hearing from ecovillages and experts as we explore resilience, adaptation, and transformation in our time of deepening polycrisis.
The podcast addresses the ups and downs of building community, opening a space to learn from each other’s vulnerabilities. The process of recording these episodes has been deeply enriching. While we work to release these stories to you, here are some of my favorite themes and lessons from the ecovillage participants.
Whether you are just starting your journey with the ecovillage movement or are already deeply rooted, I hope you will find the words of wisdom harvested helpful in your journey to resilience.
The juxtaposition of the individual within community
“I discovered that living in a community, your individual personality is empowered and transforms impressively. It has granted me the opportunity to develop an array of talents and capacities that I was not even aware of having.” – Macaco Tamerice, Damanhur Spiritual Community, Italy
“We need to move forward as a species somehow.” – Bruno Tambelini, Piracanga ecovillage, Brazil
Bruno’s journey to regenerative living began in 2008 while he was living in portugal, working with the principles of permaculture and with several collectives and sustainability projects. He received formal Permaculture training with Bill Millison an Geff Lawton in Turkey through PRI Australia.
After jumping into the Ecovillage movement with an Ecovillage Design Education in Damanhour in 2011, he took the EDE back to Bahia and founded One Drop Solutions.
Since 2011, he has lived in the ecovillage Piracanga, where he was actively involved in the founding of the Inkiri Institute and dedicating himself to the development of the Viva Inkiri University – a project that has trained more than 400 young people between 18 to 28 in socio-emotional skills – while creating local impact through regenerative culture trainings including dragon dreaming, NVC, Sociocracy, Art of Hosting and so many more.
MACACO is a life coach, trauma worker, facilitator and spiritual healer who has found purpose and happiness by going through profound personal transformations and life choices. She has lived in Damanhur for nearly 30 years and served the ecovillage network as the president of GEN-Europe, Ecovillage Design Education Facilitator and GEN UN Ambassador.
In our episode with Macaco, explore the interplay between inner freedom and community, and take from our conversation ideas for building resilience in your community.
