What we do

We are part of the worldwide Camphill movement and the only Camphill community in North America for children. We offer residential and day academic and prevocational programs, as well as therapeutic care for children in kindergarten through grade twelve. We also offer a Transition Program for young people ages eighteen to twenty-one.
Students participate in a full range of conventional and holistic therapies along with prevocational programs, community-based instruction, entrepreneurial ventures, and care for animals and the natural world. In addition, students develop meaningful relationships with peers and staff who reside both on- and off-campus.
The Camphill School was formed when Downingtown Special School and Donegal Springs, curative homes for children that began in 1954 and 1961 in Pennsylvania, merged. After an extensive search for a location to house an ever-growing number of children and live-in volunteers, a beautiful fifty-seven-acre farm in rural East Nantmeal, Pennsylvania, was purchased in October 1963. All around the world, more than one hundred Camphill communities in over twenty countries take different forms. Every community, however, is dedicated to social renewal through community building — with children, youth, and adults with disabilities. The Camphill ideal is to engage all the members of each community in meeting their own needs, as well as those of the community at large, to whatever extent their abilities allow.
We are currently looking for individuals who would be interested in joining our community for 3 – 12 months as a Live-in Volunteer. Volunteers live and work in our community in extended family-like settings with residential students and faculty. They guide a group of neuro-diverse children through daily functional and academic learning goals, and any challenges they might encounter along the way

Social Media Intern for GEN International Hours: Up to 20/month, flexible around your schedule and availability Location: Remote, work with Eva Goldfarb Focus: Instagram + LinkedIn (TikTok if you’re into it!) Hi! I’m Eva, and I run social media for GEN International — the global network connecting ecovillages, intentional communities, and regenerative culture-builders across every continent. I’m looking for a co-conspirator to help me tell the stories of the people quietly building the future: off-grid villages in the Philippines, permaculture farms in Senegal, urban cohousing projects in Berlin, elders passing down land wisdom in the Andes. It’s a wildly rich, wildly underrepresented world, and I want more people to fall in love with it the way I have. What you’ll actually do: Dream up and create content for Instagram and LinkedIn (reels, carousels, stories, captions that don’t sound like a corporate newsletter) Dig into our global network and turn your findings into stories people want to share Pitch your own ideas. If there’s a series, a theme, a format, or a corner of the network that lights you up, that’s what I want you to focus on. What we’re looking for: A natural storyteller, someone who can spot the human thread in a project update or a photo from a faraway village Genuinely curious about ecovillages, sustainability, intentional community, regenerative living Self-motivated and communicative; this is a flexible, trust-based role Why this role: This isn’t a “post 3x a week and don’t ask questions” internship. You’ll have real creative freedom to work on what excites you, learn how a global grassroots network tells its story, and build a portfolio full of meaningful, purpose-driven content. Plus you’ll be talking to people living some of the most interesting, intentional lives on the planet. If storytelling for a better world sounds like your kind of fun, let’s talk.

Social Vegan Permaculture Design Course

During this fully certified 14 day permaculture course (certified by the Permaculture Association Britain and Roots n Permaculture school) we will delve deep into permaculture including how to design food growing systems, design low impact houses and create economies, while also enriching and taking care of nature. This Permaculture Design Course (PDC) is devoted to creatively facing the social demands of our time and it offers practical impetus to dealing with interpersonal challenges both in the private and professional environment. Special emphasis will therefore be put into experiential learning by creating a temporary community for the duration of the course. We apply Dragon Dreaming and social permaculture tools to design the course and grow as a community, making sure everyone’s needs are met, so we can all enjoy living together in a supportive learning environment. This 90 hour experiential workshop runs in two sections in July and in September. Each week is spread over 8 days, with one day off in between. Part 1: 30th June to 7th July (4th July day off) Part 2: 16th to 23rd September (19th September day off) The cost of putting on the course means we need to raise on average €720 per person FOR ALL 14 DAYS (i.e. part 1 and 2, not just part 1). However we invite you to propose how much you would like to contribute (no amount is too small, so please tell us what you can afford). See below for more details on the costings. Teaching will be in English. === WHAT IS VEGAN PERMACULTURE & WHAT TO EXPECT === Permaculture is a design system for creating abundance in all aspects of our lives, which is underpinned by ethics. In this particular case we look at how to achieve this without keeping animals locked into our systems (animals and insects are encouraged to come and benefit from our system, but are equally free to leave). Hence we describe it as Vegan permaculture. Permaculture is a rigorous and systematic set of tools, ecologica
