About the course

Overview

At What If: Ecovillage Solutions for Extraordinary Times, GEN Europe brought together renowned experts, visionaries and on-the-ground practitioners to help us make sense of the complex times we live in. Together we explored how ecovillages and intentional communities are awakening to opportunities through the Covid crisis and how together we can transform this moment to create a culture of regeneration and resilience for all.

This package of panel discussions from the event is for you if you want to get the big picture and latest thinking on social, ecological, cultural and economic issues from an ecovillage perspective. The package features 7.5 hours of content from the November 2020 online event What If and related resources for each of the panel discussions.

The panels feature twelve experts from across the ecovillage world and beyond, including…

  • John D. Liu: Founder of Ecosystem Restoration Camps John Liu has devoted his life to understanding and communicating about the potential and responsibility to restore degraded landscapes on a planetary scale.
  • Sonita Mbah: award-winning activist Sonita has has dedicated the last 6 years reconnecting young people to the land and carrying out “Youth For Peace” campaigns and cross-culture education programs through youth camps, and other community initiatives related to climate change adaptation.
  • Nonty Sedibe: Nonty is a speaker, shaman and advocate for climate and social justice. Her goal is to send a message of empowerment, service, indigenous wisdom, sustainable living and the importance of building community and ecovillages in modern society.
  • Robert Hall: an ecovillage co-founder and Deputy Director of ECOLISE, Robert has been active in GEN since 2009 including as Managing Director and President. He cofounded Suderbyn ecovillage and loves the combination of working hands-on with practical eco-technologies and the bigger picture issues of influencing governments and international organisations.
  • …and many more.

Pricing

The price for the full panel package is £30.

I’ve just arrived here, where should I start?

If you are just getting to know GEN, we recommend you start with the GEN Intro course which will give you the frame of how the network and organisation flow.

A live course will be offered at set times and invites you to engage with a facilitator and other participants. A self-paced course means you can engage in the content as your schedule allows. We also offer courses where you engage in the content yourself and then join gently facilitated group discussions to connect with others.
