ACADEMIA & PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH
Ecovillage Resilience +2.5°
The Ecovillage Resilience project gathered all 5 GEN Regions and 20 communities from around the world to explore resilience, adaptation and transformation in a >2.5 degrees global warming scenario. Together, we explored how ecovillages can strengthen their practices to prepare for potential climate change scenarios while amplifying their collective impact and transformative capacity.
Project resources include a Resilience Tracker, Podcast, and countless stories and learnings from the 2 year journey which ended in fall 2024.
ReGEN4all
The ReGEN4All project aimed to serve researchers, practitioners, and adult educators from ecovillages and academia as well as policymakers on all levels. ReGEN4All aimed to make the knowledge gained within and through ecovillages more accessible both for academic research and to help inform policy decisions on sustainable lifestyle and regenerative practices.
The Regen4All was a small-scale partnership, funded by the E+ program, and came to its end spring 2024. With its finalisation, we are happy to be able to share with you the outcomes of the project.
MUNICIPALITIES & LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
Ecovillage Transition in Action
The Ecovillage Transition in Action (ETIA) project aimed to support ecovillages and local communities in their transition towards sustainability by providing tools, training, and resources to foster resilience and regenerative practices. ETIA worked to empower communities to take climate action and strengthen local capacity for sustainable development.
ETIA was a small-scale partnership, funded by the Erasmus+ program, and concluded in 2023. With its completion, we are excited to share the project’s outcomes and resources to further community-led sustainability efforts.
YOUTH & REGENERATIVE EDUCATION
Youth in Action – Sprouts for the Future
Through a combination of a “learning-by-doing” approach and the support of dedicated experts, GEN guided five schools between Feb 2023 and May 2024 in implementing ecological solutions on their campuses, turning them into local demonstration sites, and enabling others to replicate similar projects.
The project implemented suitable technologies based on concrete needs near the schools including food supply, shelter, water, waste, and ecosystem regeneration.
Twinning Regenerative Educators
In 2022, GEN facilitated 20 educators, established direct ‘twin’ relationships, and co-created three educational resources: a living showcase and toolkit, a teacher training curriculum, and ecovillage principles design cards for children.
Spanning every region, collaborators brought experience from ecovillage schools, traditional schools, and community projects. GEN stewarded this inquiry to weave the knowledge and experiences into a new fabric that will serve educators and young learners within the network and beyond.
REGENERATIVE LEADERSHIP
Kincentric Leadership
Weaving together groundbreaking science into the intelligence, consciousness and agency of the more-than-human world with indigenous worldviews and practices to push the boundaries of what we think is possible as leaders and human beings facing crisis. In 2023 – 2024, we ran a pilot leadership programme for 80 leaders to embed a kincentric approach into their work, strategy, impact measurement and ways of working.
We aim to ensure that leaders from all walks of life know in their bones that we are part of an intelligent, living Earth and have the ability to build kinship with all life into their responses to the polycrisis.
